Let’s talk CVT belts and proper installation. There are some basic rules to ensure you are getting the most out of your belt.

Choose a belt that meets OE specs
Align your clutch and clean your sheaves
Never twist or bend a belt during install
Break it in with two heat cycles.

Installing an elastic belt without the OE tool? Just grab a zip tie.
👉 Cinch a zip tie around the crankshaft pulley and the belt.
👉 Walk the belt into position by rotating the crankshaft balancer.
👉 Once seated, the zip tie may snap or be removed manually.
Watch our technician demonstrate this method with the latest Dayco ela belt – part 6PK1742EE, a main drive belt designed for a couple million Chevy truck applications. It’ll save you a few hundred bucks and give you the same result 💪💸
