307 Outlaw Streets — True Street
We headed to 307 Outlaw Streets to compete in True Street with a completely untested combination. Different converter, suspension setup, vehicle weight, and power level than we’ve ever run before. While we didn’t quite bring home the win, I’m extremely proud of a 2nd-place finish against Andrew Uttech and the competition we faced.
I’m not a traditional no-prep racer. Most of my experience and focus has always been on the drag strip. Making the transition into the lower-prep side of racing has been a baptism by fire, but it’s also taught me a tremendous amount about power management, chassis setup, and suspension tuning. Every pass is another lesson, and every race is an opportunity to improve.
A huge thank-you to Zac Clymer and his entire crew for putting on a great event. Growing up in Wyoming, I can honestly say this type of racing has been needed here for a long time. It’s great to see the racing community continuing to grow and give racers another place to compete.
I also want to give a special thank-you to Ryen DeClue for helping get me into the groove, and as always, Perry Komick for all the advice, knowledge, and support he’s given me throughout the years.
And to Brian Nutter and his crew at Summit Racing Equipment — thank you for continuing to provide some of the best performance parts in the industry and for supporting racers like us.
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who has helped me, supported me, and contributed to this program along the way. I truly wouldn’t be where I am today without all of you.
A lot of people say, “Second place is the first loser.” I disagree.
Second place means you had the courage to line up, take the chance, learn something, and put yourself in the fight.
Remember:
> A millionaire won’t criticize someone starting a new business. An athlete won’t judge someone working to get better. And a real musician won’t criticize someone learning to play a new song.
The people going somewhere are usually too busy building their own path to worry about yours.
