A major question we have been receiving lately… “my car already has tint, can you tint over it?” “What should I do?”
The short answer is yes. But I don’t advise it. Here’s why….
You have no idea what type of tint is on the vehicle or how old it is. I have seen tint jobs people wanted me to tint over that are already starting to fail.
I can certainly tint over your current tint job but you won’t have a warranty. I can’t guarantee the previous shops work if that first layer of film fails then all of it has to be removed.
The second question. “Do I have to pay?” Yes, a tint removal is an additional service that can sometimes require extensive additional time and/or techniques to properly remove old tint without damaging the vehicle and get it cleaned properly before re-tinting the vehicle. This is like going to a body shop and asking them to paint over rust… can they do it? Yes. But if they fix the rust or remove the rust before re painting it’s an additional service and price. So please understand it’s not to make a quick buck. It’s to ensue the quality, and longevity of the tint job I am installing. Pay for the removal and have a fresh tint job with a lifetime warranty. Save yourself a headache later on!
