🔋 Ever wondered what’s inside your car battery?
Here’s a look under the lid 👀
What you’re seeing are lead plates stacked closely together, with separators in between. These plates sit in a mixture of sulfuric acid and water called electrolyte.
Here’s how it works:
⚡ When you turn your key, a chemical reaction happens between the plates and the acid.
⚡ This reaction produces electrons… and that’s what powers your starter, lights, and electronics.
⚡ Once your vehicle is running, the alternator sends power back to the battery to recharge it and reverse the reaction.
Over time, those plates can sulfate, corrode, or shed material (like you see here), which reduces performance and eventually leads to failure.
👉 This is why a battery can test weak or die—even if it “looks fine” from the outside.
