Another Dino out the door . Completed the last of the metalwork on the “Deja Vu” Dino 246GTS. There was only a small pile of rusty, damaged old steel cut from this Spider. It was in serious need of a nose job, a pair of door skins, inner and outer rockers, lower quarters, inner tail section, etc. etc. And praise be to God it all came back together.

I had to update the progress on the Deva Vu Dino. While the headlight surround was being fit, I wondered over to the Edwards English wheel to shape the new top section of the fender. After, I decided the section below that was too damaged and thin so I replaced that also. So here it is, all welded and finished.

The reconstruction of the Deja Vu Dino is well underway. The passenger headlight area was one of the uglier parts of this Spider, with all of the poor previously welded repairs, overlapped metal and holes resulting from media blasting the excessive grinding of the already thin sheet metal. Using a simple MDF hammer form (and quite a bit of shrinking the edges) the new headlight mounting fl**ge and surround was created. Then came the tedious hand flanging process to achieve tapering 5/16” flat faced ring to fit the rest of fender opening and headlight tunnel. Here it is fit and welded in place. Next up, welding in the new fender section.

Who knows what evil lies beneath shiny red paint. This may look like the ‘73 Dino 246GTS that just left the shop but in fact it’s another identical Spider, the Deja Vu Dino. Once disassembled and stripped by it can be seen that it needs much of the same damage and rust repair as the last one. Work has been started on the lower quarters.

Wrapped up the nose job on the Spider. Several new sections of the lower nose and inner structure were fabricated due to rust and damage. Even a section of the wire in the wired edge rotted away. Praise be to God, it all fit back together nicely.
