En Fuego - Annie Conover - Sponsored by Ami Sushi
As impressive as Annie Conover’s career stat lines are, there are other numbers that tell an even clearer story of what she meant to New Providence.
The stat sheet tells you how a player scored. The record tells you how much she mattered. During Conover’s four years in a Pioneer uniform, New Providence went 112-12.
Read that again.
112 wins. 12 losses.
That remarkable run included three Union County championships, three sectional titles, three trips to the Group finals and two Group state championships - a stretch few schools have matched over the course of their entire history.
And it’s worth noting how they did it.
New Providence is a Group 1 school, yet throughout Conover’s career the Pioneers consistently challenged themselves by scheduling some of the largest and strongest programs in the state.
Which makes her individual numbers even more impressive.
Conover finished her career with 1,698 points, 724 rebounds, 351 assists and 273 steals, placing her among the most productive players in program history. This season alone, she accounted for more than one-third of the team’s points and rebounds, while producing roughly 30 percent of the Pioneers’ assists and steals.
Which tells you something pretty simple: Annie Conover didn’t just put up big numbers for New Providence.
She helped power one of the greatest eras any program in the 7Eight district has ever seen.
🔥Stop, drop and sushi roll. With the career she has had, Annie is well deserving of celebrating over a great meal and one place that would love to help her with that celebration is Ami Sushi who would like to honor her with a $25 gift certificate.
