Learn 2 Drive Driving School, LLC

Learn 2 Drive Driving School, LLC Experienced driving instruction for teens and adults of all ages. Serving individuals in Johnston, Harnett and Wake Counties. Hello, my name is Vickey Lee.

For many years it has been my dream to open my own driving school. I have always enjoyed working with people of all ages and feel that the new and inexperienced drivers should be taught all road and right-a-way rules, not just stay between the lines. Growing up, I lived in Louisiana where you could get your driver license at the young age of 15 years old. This is when I fell in love with driving.

After high school, I accepted a position with the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles as a Driver License Examiner. I was later promoted to District Supervisor where I spent the next 27 years. After I retired from DMV, I worked as a driving instructor for over four years. My experience as an Examiner and Instructor insures that I understand wheat is needed for you to become a safe driver and to obtain a driver license. My students frequently tell me that I am very patient and make them feel at ease behind the wheel. I always try to make my students comfortable and find it very rewarding when I see the look on their faces when they get their first driver license. Here at Learn 2 Drive, we want you to have a pleasant experience and make it something you will remember for a lifetime.

As we head into summer (AKA our busy season), we’re here to remind you that teens and new adult drivers have the option to take their road test at a certified private driver education school, instead of at the DMV.

You’ll still have to visit a DMV office to complete the process, but having your road test already completed can significantly reduce the time you spend there.

Big news for NC drivers! Thanks to a new law signed by Gov. Josh Stein, you can now renew your non-REAL ID driver license ONLINE for a SECOND consecutive time – no office visit required!

This update, effective immediately, is designed to make things faster and cut down wait times at DMV offices. Combined with other changes coming soon (like REAL ID renewals and teen license upgrades), it could keep up to 400,000 transactions from clogging up lines statewide.

NEW State Requirement – Highway Work Zone Safety
Effective December 1, 2025, all North Carolina Driver’s Education students must complete the Highway Work Zone Safety Training as part of the required 30-hour Driver Education curriculum.

This means the Work Zone Safety training is NOT OPTIONAL and not in addition to the 30 hours – it must be included as part of the 30-hour Driver Education program for all qualifying students.
Students must complete the DMV-developed / DMV-adopted online course as follows:

1. Go to:https://www.workzonesafe.com/
2. Select: “North Carolina Work Zone Safe for Teens.”
Once a student completes the course, they must:
• Print their certificate of completion.
• Bring the certificate to their Driving School instructor for verification.
• The instructor must verify the certificate before a Driver Education Completion Certificate can be issued.
Individuals aged 18 and older must complete the North Carolina Work Zone Safe course when applying for a North Carolina driver’s license for the first time. Below is the link for 18 and older:
