I have been very patient with the way that Insurance Companies treat people involved in an accident. Whether you are at fault or the other driver, the ONLY thing they care about is saving money. Regardless of how much of an inconvenience it is to the consumer. Attached is an example of what I am talking about. Customer was hit by another vehicle. Not their fault. We wrote an insurance quality estimate. The insurance company informed the customer that our estimate was not acceptable and that they had to go to one of their preferred shops. Although this is called "steering" and completely against the law in Oregon, they made the customer spend their time and gas doing so. They also tried to scare them into believing that she would have to pay out of pocket unless they used the "preferred" shop. This is a blatant lie. Go ahead and read my attachment and you will understand what I am talking about. Their "preferred" shop is discounting the repairs by 15% plus on the labor. I am not sure of the type of quality you would get with this much of a discount. But to add insult to injury, the customer was informed that the repairs would not be able to get started until the end of February. Bottom line is make the customer wait in order to save the Insurance Company money. At Central Oregon Auto Body we hold all of our customer's "harmless". That means that what the insurance pays for the damages is what we accept. We also do not "discount" our work. All we care about is our customer.
