Wisconsin State Championships Round 2 Recap
Felt pretty good through practice on Friday and carried into Saturday.
Ended up P2 in qualifying with a 14.044. Congrats Nick on fast time and new track record.
Preview Feature- Started 9th, avoided the chaos and worked forward. Got out to the lead with 24 or so to go and a caution flew a few laps later. Made the wrong lane choice, got beat on the start, and didn’t have quite enough for the 23 and came home P2.
Feature 1- Started 7th, boxed in early in the race and eventually started picking them off. Worked up to 4th when the 2nd and 3rd place car got together and went to the back. Restarted outside front row, again got beat on the start and lost another spot ending up 3rd.
Feature 2- Going into the last race we were 2 points back on the 23 for the overall so needing to have one car in between us as I had the tie breaker. Started 7th again and made some great moves to eventually get out front with a little over 10 to go and drove away to pick up the win! But came up 1 spot short on the overall. Congrats to Tanner on the win and overall!
Had a blast this weekend racing with some of the best 602 late model guys around and definitely learned a ton.
Lots and lots of people to thank for making this all possible, Rick for the opportunity to drive the car, my spotter Mason, was his first time ever spotting and did one hell of a job, Matthew and Shane for busting there tails all weekend long in the pits, my mom and dad, grandma and grandpa, Rob, Shane, and anyone else who answered any question or lent a hand, I really appreciate each and every one of you guys!
