Loaded Budget Luxury, Class of ‘74: Ford Gran Torino Elite

Unusually loaded first-year Elite, the only year to carry the Gran Torino tag as well. Ford had a long-standing tradition of tying the first year of a new premium model to its predecessor (1959 Fairlane 500 Galaxie; 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 LTD), then dropping the donor name in the second year. Ford’s entry in the raging midsize personal luxury coupe crowd—a “Thunderbird light” of sorts. The way this one’s optioned, it offers nearly anything you could order on the more expensive T-bird—460 V8, road wheels, power everything and rare factory sunroof. The whole package is magnificently over the top, an 8-mpg hog with 200ish hp…but kind of a glorious 70s relic nonetheless.

Built in US, delivered to an Abbotsford, British Columbia dealer just about 25 miles from where I live today https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1974-ford-gran-torino-elite-2/

Found On The Streets! One-family-owned since new 1965 Pontiac Parisienne Sport Coupe. Frame-off restoration, original interior. 60-something Canadian gentlemen inherited this Poncho from his parents and spent a few years bringing it back to like-new.

As a kid growing up in this northwest Washington border town, bespoke Canadian nameplates like Parisienne, Beaumont, Acadian were commonplace—today, any of them is a rare sight outside of car shows. This was a super street treat for a Thursday afternoon

Uncommon Luxury: 1977-79 Lincoln Continental Town Car Williamsburg

The standout distinction of the Williiamsburg edition is its light-over-dark two-tone paint scheme—the only Lincoln Continental of its time to be offered this way. Often overshadowed by the showier Designer Series Marks IV & V, the Williamsburg went about about its business more subtly; a full vinyl roof and solid C-pillar (half-roof and opera windows optional in ‘77; opera windows were made standard for ‘78), power vent windows and six-way power Twin Comfort Lounge Seats in velour or leather completed this special package
