This was an interesting repair. This pressure washer pump was having problems with the unloader valve function. Several parts of the unloader were damaged from corrosion and at least 2 o-rings were destroyed. They were lodged in places they are not supposed to be in. Including one o-ring section being lodged in the pressure feedback port.

Not so sure that a Ford Duratec 3.0 V6 is considered a "small" engine, yet here we are extracting broken bolts from an intake manifold. One of the more interesting parts of the slow down in the cooler months is the wider variety of work that can be done without getting in the way of the bread and butter.

This customer thought he was having an issue with one of the transaxles on his zero turn mower. Turns out the left caster bearings were seized up and the wheel bearings were worn out from exposure to salt water. Much cheaper than a transaxle repair.

Don't let age fool you, this is hands down one of the best trimmers ever made. This engine really shows what a good compromise between performance, durability, and light weight looks like. It's a 25cc engine, but I've seen them run a 12" bar on a pole saw with no issue. I've seen them stand up to over a decade of commercial use as well. I regularly work on these that are 15-20 years old that only need simple things to run like new. This particular one is a 2005 and only needs fuel hoses.

Does your outdoor power equipment or your vehicle have one of these filter restriction gauges? Do you pay attention to it? It's a handy tool. Staying on top of your air filter maintenance is just as important as changing your oil. A dirty air filter can cause everything from high fuel consumption and weak engine performance, and even in some extreme cases can cause engine overheating. Periodically check your filter gauge and visually inspect your air filter to make sure it's in good condition.

This saw got pinched in a tree. The user attempted to pull the saw out, and tore the intake boot. Be careful out there. Not only did this cost the saw owner in down time and in repairs, but it could have ended up in a dangerous situation for the saw user as well. Step back and thoroughly assess the situation if your saw gets stuck in a cut. The machine can be replaced. You can't be.

This MS271 came in with the complaint that it was hard to start and wouldn't stay running. That was accurate. And it also put out a lot of strange smelling smoke. Turns out, the fuel tank had red kerosene in it. No damage was done to the saw, and a simple fuel change was all that was needed to remedy the issue. I'm putting this out here as a reminder to make sure you are using the correct fuel in your machines. It'll save you from some unnecessary repair bills.

Remember to check the chain brake on your chainsaw when starting it. Don't leave the chain brake engaged while the engine is on fast idle. It can cause serious damage to the saw's case, clutch components, oiling system, and can even cause engine failure.
