Tires are like people. They may appear ok on the outside, but trashed and scarred inside. This one was close to leaving the customer on the side of the road! Glad we were able to handle it first!! 🛞

It goes without saying that one of the biggest issues we address in today’s automotive world is used tires. Specifically those that have no life left as “resells”.
Add the current state of economics with tariffs and the price of oil (which does reflect in tire costs) we see an ever increasing price in the retail of tires. Ourselves, as well as other independent tire stores in our Beebe area, work hard everyday to keep those prices down. But unfortunately there are situations that cause us to raising them, today starts another increase for just about everyone.
In a fight to deal with the massive use tire surplus the state started having all dealers collect a $3.00 per tire on every new tire sold starting many years ago. That then was changed to also collect on used tires sold. Then again it was changed but this time it was “re-worded” to say any “tire mounted” (used or new). Lately the wording was changed in the law books to call it: “tire mounting fee”.
This “fee” is sent to the state. It is explained in a way as to “pay for the research and development of how to properly dispose or used tires”.
Some time ago lawmakers also worked out a deal with specific businesses around the state that handle the disposal of tires that starting this month gave these businesses the right to start charging an additional fee on each tire brought to their center. (On top of money the state was already paying)
What this all boils down to for consumers is you are likely to see one of two things. One where the additional $2.00 will be added to the tire cost itself or a separate listing such as $###.xx tire cost, $3.00 state tire mounting fee, $2.00 tire disposal fee.

This is why mechanics dislike designers/engineers. The alternator has to slide forward to clear the bolt. However it can’t because 1/4 in of the power steering pulley is in the way. Why not drop one or raise the other? Better yet…. Why not use a bolt instead of a stud????? 😡
