Rowlett's participated in the Festival of Trees Bedford VA at the Bedford Area Welcome Center this year for the first time. We are honored to say that we were in the Top 6 Trees!
We had the honor of selecting a nonprofit organization to benefit from the votes cast for our Christmas tree, and we proudly chose The Minutemen Club as our charity.
The Minutemen Club is a non-profit organization that aims to provide financial support to Liberty High School, its programs, and its students; as well as create rewarding opportunities, through monetary donations and participation, in all extracurricular activities including, but not limited to, athletics, the arts, academic clubs, and social clubs.
Thanks to everyone who supported us, we raised $548, which was presented to Tim Black, Treasurer of the Minutemen Club.
Our tree was a true reflection of who we are. It was built from car parts and automotive materials. The tree itself featured an artificial tree with green wiper blades as branches, decorated with painted wheel weights and spark plugs. The Star on top was none other than a check engine light.
The manger scene was just as special. It was created using A/C condensers, a radiator, a battery sign, jack stands and zip-ties holding it together. Mary and Joseph were crafted from strut springs and vintage gas pump handles. Baby Jesus was a miniature gas pump replica, wrapped in PIG mat as swaddling cloth, and resting in two valve covers. The star on the manger was made from welded spark plugs painted yellow.
