The Bedford County Animal Shelter is overflowing with animals, even after its expansion.

Please read this post about Lo'ak. Almost 8 months in a shelter is far too long for this boy. He needs and deserves a loving home, room to run, and a warm soft bed.

If you have room in your heart and house for Lo'ak or ANY homeless animal, please visit the shelter. They're open Tuesday through Friday from 1:00 P.M until 6:00 P.M. and Saturdays from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. They're located at 1307 Falling Creek Road in Bedford; just before the Sheriff's Department.

Remember, for every oil change we perform here at Jimmy's Automotive, we donate $5 to the shelter. Let's do all we can to support them and find these animals GOOD homes! 🐾

The more you know! 💡

In 1902 Mary Anderson conceived the idea of windshield wipers after watching a streetcar driver in New York City struggle to clear snow and sleet by opening the window.

On November 10, 1903 Mary was awarded a U.S. patent for her manual "window cleaning device" operated by an interior lever. Her patent expired in 1920 without being put into mass production. It wasn't a total "wipeout" though!

In 1922 Cadillac became the first automotive manufacturer to include windshield wipers as standard equipment on its vehicles. These were created using the basic principles of Mary's invention, although she received no money for it.

On rainy days, remember this lady. Without her foresight and ingenuity, driving could be difficult.

Today Jimmy's Automotive and Recovery donated $600 for the shelter animals. We want to thank all those who got their oil changed at Jimmy's because you made that happen. We donate $5 per oil change to the Friends of Bedford County Animal Shelter, Inc. for the care, medication, and sterilization of the animals.

There are so many cuddly, lonely animals here who need a second chance at being loved. These animals were all surrendered by their owners, brought in as strays, or born due to failure to spay and neuter.

As always, we want to strongly encourage everyone to spay and neuter your pets. All shelters are in crisis and there simply aren't enough proper homes for them all. Adding more animals to the population has devastating consequences.

We want to showcase just a few of the animals available. There are several adorable black kittens, two gorgeous calico sister kittens, orange tabbies, tortis, some barn cats, and lots of dogs available. Can you open your heart and home to any of these? Look at this 1934 Ford Coupe that visited Jimmy's earlier today. It has been completely restored, remodeled, and pimped out by Bedford native Davey Reynolds.

You can check it out in person today from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Bedford County Car Show, 1415 Boxwood Terrace in Bedford.
