MASSIVE repair. After not posting for a year I figured why not come back with a monster dent? Here it is! This was a 2025 Chevy Blazer, that my client dented by backing into her bicycle seat.. Crazy.
Going into the repair, I wasn't sure I could fix it. There is little information shared on this particular car because it is a new model. Having lots of leverage and access behind the panel was the only way repairing this was going to be possible. Fortunately there was nothing inside the panel like a brace or double paneling or a washer fluid reservoir to get in the way. I was able to use large rods with soft tips to move the metal exactly where I wanted it with precision and power.
Lateral tension was a must to work out that massive crown at the top of the dent. Probably 75% of my time was spent working that metal downward so the rest of the dent could even be pushed up. If you ignore the bulging metal and only try to push what's pressed in, you'll end up at a body shop.
After 6 hours my customers were blown away, but I assured them it could look much better, so I returned the next morning to finish it out and deliver on the expectation I gave my client.
The kicker in this situation was this car was not hers. She's renting it for 6 months while she waits for her new car to arrive. So she avoided an insurance claim on a car that isn't even hers, she had no down time of her transportation being stuck in a shop, and the rental company will never know it happened.
