PINK OUT TONIGHT

Unfortunately, it seems like all of us know someone whose life has been touched by breast cancer. A family member, friend, neighbor, coworker, or someone right here in our community.

Our hearts go out to those fighting this disease, those who have fought it, the families and friends walking beside them, and those we have lost.

Tonight, the PGL Volleyball girls are doing their part by hosting a Pink Out and raising money in the fight against breast cancer.

PGL vs. Montello
Tonight, Tuesday, October 6
Varsity at 7:15 PM
Princeton High School

There will be lots of great baskets to bid on along with a 50/50 raffle, all to help raise money for this important cause.

At Bestway, we love supporting our students and the causes that matter to them and are important to us, too. We have students attending a lot of different schools throughout the communities we serve, and we are always proud to see young people come together to help others.

If you are at the game tonight, please take a look at all of the baskets and consider bidding on ours. We filled it with beef jerky, candy, a $100 Cabela’s/Bass Pro Shops gift card, and a $100 Bestway Driving Academy gift certificate that can be used by a current or future student.

But tonight really is not about our basket or Bestway. It is about a group of young people using their game to help others and a community coming together behind them.

Wear some pink. Bid on a basket. Buy some 50/50 tickets. Cheer on the athletes.

Most importantly, help support a cause that has touched far too many families.

Because when something affects so many of us, a community that cares shows up together.

Our hearts are with Trooper Bradley Ritger’s family, friends and fellow members of the Wisconsin State Patrol. We thank God for his life and service, and pray that the Lord brings comfort, peace and strength to all who mourn, while watching over all who serve to protect us.

Mike, Sheila and the Bestway Driving Academy team

It is with profound sadness that the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and Wisconsin State Patrol announce the line-of-duty death of Trooper Bradley Ritger at the age of 29.

On September 21, 2026, Trooper Ritger was responding to a traffic pursuit when he deployed a tire deflation device on a bridge deck west of the Dunn County/Eau Claire County line. As he moved to a position of cover, he fell from the bridge onto the roadway below. Despite lifesaving efforts and critical medical care, Trooper Ritger succumbed to his injuries on October 2, 2026.

Trooper Ritger joined the Wisconsin State Patrol as a member of the 67th Recruit Class. He served in the Northwest Region for nearly five years, primarily in the Dunn County area. During his career, he attained certifications as a general law enforcement instructor, mobile field force team member and squad leader, and salvage vehicle inspector. Prior to his service with the Wisconsin State Patrol, Trooper Ritger served with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for three years.

Trooper Ritger was a dedicated public servant whose strong work ethic and positive presence left a lasting impact on anyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He approached every situation with professionalism, integrity and a genuine commitment to serving others. Whether assisting the public, supporting his fellow troopers, or taking on difficult challenges, he consistently demonstrated compassion and willingness to help wherever needed. His dedication to his family and unwavering commitment to his profession will not be forgotten.

We extend our deepest sympathy to Trooper Ritger’s family, friends, loved ones and all who served alongside him. As the community mourns, the Wisconsin State Patrol has placed a law enforcement memorial vehicle at its Northwest Region Post in Eau Claire where the public is welcome to drop off cards, flowers, or other condolences.

Out of respect for the family, no additional information will be shared at this time. Funeral arrangements are being made by the family. We kindly ask media and the public to respect their privacy and space for grieving.

BESTWAY FAMILY — WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Meet Cora! She’s only 9 years old, but she already has quite the sports résumé — softball, football, golf, and even a hole-in-one! Mike from Bestway might be just a little jealous of that one.

Cora has advanced to the Quarter-Finals of the Youth Athlete of the Year competition! The overall winner receives $25,000 and will be featured in a 3BRAND national advertising campaign on CBS and in Sports Illustrated.

Cora’s family is also part of our Bestway family. One of her big brothers has already completed Driver’s Ed with us, and another is a Bestway student right now. So naturally, we’re pretty excited to cheer on their little sister!

Sorry, Cora… NO KEYS YET. You’ve still got a few years to go!

But we CAN help her right now by voting! You can cast a FREE vote every 24 hours.

Vote for Cora here:
https://athleteoftheyear.org/2026/cora-fc8b

Please vote, share, and help us give Cora a Bestway-sized boost!

Look how far word of mouth has taken the Bestway family! 🚗

Thank you to the parents and students who keep spreading the word. Our students come from the high schools in this reel, and many others!

Your teen doesn’t have to attend a particular school to join us. Online and homeschool students are welcome, too.

Register today for online or hybrid classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel lessons, or both.

🚨 PARENTS, GREAT NEWS — THERE IS STILL DRIVER’S ED GRANT MONEY AVAILABLE 🚨

If you thought you missed it, you didn’t. There are still spots available through the Wisconsin DMV Driver Education Grant, but they will not last long.

💡 WHAT THIS GRANT IS
The Wisconsin DMV Driver Education Grant was created to help families cover the cost of Driver’s Ed so teens can receive proper training instead of skipping it due to cost.

For families who qualify, the grant can cover:
✔ 30 hours of classroom instruction
✔ 6 hours behind the wheel
✔ 6 hours of observation

The DMV pays the driving school directly. This is not a reimbursement program.

👀 WHO IS ELIGIBLE
It really is this simple:
✔ Wisconsin resident
✔ Age 14½ to 19
✔ Eligible for free or reduced lunch
✔ Has not previously held a driver license

If your teen qualifies for free or reduced lunch, there is a very good chance they qualify for this program.

⚠️ IMPORTANT TO KNOW
This grant is not retroactive.
If you have already paid for Driver’s Ed, the grant will not reimburse you.

However:
If you only paid for part of the program, such as classroom only, you may still be able to use the grant for behind the wheel.

⏳ WHY THIS MATTERS RIGHT NOW
The grant opened recently and is already filling up quickly.

The last time it opened, funds were gone in just a few days.

👉 There are still openings right now, but once they are gone, they are gone until the next release.

📝 HOW TO APPLY
👉 Click here to apply through the Wisconsin DMV:
https://wisconsindot.gov/Pages/dmv/teen-driver/teen-sfty/degrant.aspx

Once approved, you will receive your grant coupon code(s).

🚨 PARENTS, HERE IS WHAT YOU ACTUALLY NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DRIVER’S ED IN WISCONSIN 🚨

If you have a teen getting close to driving, you’ve probably realized something,
This process can feel overwhelming.

Between school, sports, work schedules, and everything else going on, figuring out Driver’s Ed is just one more thing on your plate.

Take a breath, we’ve got you.

🧠 WHEN SHOULD MY TEEN START DRIVER’S ED?

This is one of the most misunderstood parts of the entire process.

Your teen can complete the classroom portion of Driver’s Ed before their 15th birthday, which is a huge advantage for busy families.

That means they can be fully prepared and ready to go to the DMV on their 15th birthday to get their instruction permit.

They cannot get their permit before turning 15, but they can be ready on day one.

There is no specific Wisconsin law that sets a strict minimum age for starting classroom instruction.

However, timing still matters. Starting too early can create gaps that may require additional instruction later.

The Wisconsin DMV Grant begins eligibility at age 14½, and some driving schools may have their own starting guidelines, which is where a lot of the confusion comes from.

The key is planning the timing the right way so you are not scrambling later.

📘 WHAT YOUR TEEN NEEDS TO DO

✔ Enroll in a certified Driver’s Ed program
✔ Pass the knowledge test and road signs test
✔ Be at least 15 years old to obtain an Instruction Permit
✔ Complete 30 hours classroom, 6 hours behind the wheel, and 6 hours observation
✔ Practice 50 hours with a parent, including 10 hours at night
✔ Hold the permit for at least 6 months
✔ Be at least 16 years old
✔ Pass the road test

🚦 WHAT IS GDL?

For the first 9 months after licensing, there are passenger limits, late night driving restrictions, and stricter penalties for violations.

These rules are designed to protect new drivers while they gain experience, and give parents a little peace of mind.

💡 WHAT ABOUT THE DMV GRANT?

The Wisconsin DMV offers a Driver Education Grant for qualifying families based on free or reduced lunch.

It can cover 100 percent of Driver’s Ed, including classroom and behind the wheel.

It opened April 13, 2026 and closed within just a few days.

Good news, it typically reopens quarterly.

We help families understand how the grant works and how to be ready so you do not miss out next time.
