Did you spot the R/V Savannah at the Beaufort Town Docks this weekend? 🚢

The vessel spent a few days in Beaufort sheltering from the weather before heading toward Hatteras this morning!

The R/V Savannah supports offshore research missions and is currently working with East Carolina University (ECU) researchers on a project off the coast of Hatteras.

A big thank you to Sean O’Leary and the crew for stopping by Beaufort! We enjoyed having you!

Yesterday, Sara Bell, Administrative Manager for the Beaufort Town Docks, attended the Local Government ADV & Resilient Docks Workshop in Washington, NC, presented by the North Carolina Coastal Federation.

Commissioner Paula Gillikin joined Carteret County Deputy Sheriff Joe Marlette, amongst other local leaders and officials, on a panel discussion that shared valuable perspectives between one another.

Created following Hurricane Florence, the North Carolina Marine Debris Action Plan focuses on prevention and building greater resilience for docks and piers across coastal North Carolina.

It was a great opportunity for Sara to learn more about resilient dock practices, hear from local leaders and experts, and bring back valuable information that can help support the future of our waterfront. 🌊⚓
