The original captain of the Meka II, Captain Horatio Sinbad, was a legendary, real-life buccaneer who lived in Beaufort, NC. He lived aboard this handcrafted 54-foot brigantine tall ship, the Meka II. Capt. Sinbad was famous for initiating the town's annual pirate invasion in the 1960s and spent five decades sailing and teaching maritime history before he passed away.

Kenny Bock is the driving force behind Bock Marine. As owner, operator, and just about everything in between, there’s not much he hasn’t seen, fixed, or built in the past 50 years of the business. If you’re around the boatyard, chances are you’ll spot Kenny somewhere in the mix. Today, Kenny continues to lead Bock Marine with the same work ethic and passion that started it all.

This 1984 Buddy Davis, owned by Joey Adkins, arrived at Bock Marine for a series of upgrades and evolved into a comprehensive restoration project. Completed entirely in-house, the scope of work included new engines, a full paint job, updated metalwork, custom teak fabrication, a Seakeeper installation, a new deck, and the removal and reinstallation of the fuel tanks. Now focused on the finishing details, reassembling trim components and completing final testing before returning the vessel to Atlantic Beach.
