Our last full day in Canada was slow and simple just the way we like it. We wandered through the woods, explored the riverbeds, and dipped our feet in icy glacier water.

This trip reminded us of something important for our Olivia journey: sometimes the best places aren’t the famous crowded ones, but the quiet hidden spots in between. Tomorrow we head home with full hearts and lots of gratitude. 🇨🇦⚓❤️

Another beautiful day in British Columbia led us down the back roads to Findlay Falls.

Along the way, we found old pulleys, cables, and other remnants from gold mining in the late 1800s, plus an old cabin believed to have ties to the Ktunaxa Nation.

We also spotted mule deer in velvet and ended the day enjoying the peaceful beauty of Columbia Lake.

Sometimes the best adventures happen off the beaten path. ⚓❤️

Today’s plans changed when crowds sent us in a different direction, but sometimes detours lead to the best adventures.

We explored the fascinating Paint Pots, saw old mining equipment tucked into the forest, admired beautiful turquoise glacier-fed rivers, and spotted mountain goats, including a mama with her baby.

To top it off, we met a feisty little ground squirrel back at the cabin who clearly thought we were invading his territory. 😄

Some days are filled with miles. Some days are filled with moments.

Today brought a hike to the Hoodoos, several mule deer bucks growing their antlers in velvet, the rushing waters of Dutch Creek, and a fluffy robin who seemed quite content to share the cabin with us.

We finished the day with cards, a glass of wine, and the kind of mountain views that never get old. ❤️🏔️🦌🐦

Olivia may be resting safely at home, but we’re out gathering stories for the adventures still to come.

Today we stood at the foot of the Athabasca Glacier, watched black bears roam the mountainsides, spotted bighorn sheep and their babies, and followed beautiful glacier-fed rivers through the Canadian Rockies.

Every mile reminds us why we’re working so hard to bring Olivia back to life. One day these kinds of places won’t just be destinations on a road trip—they’ll be places we’ll reach under sail.

For now, we’re making memories and dreaming about the journeys ahead. ❤️⚓

Today we finally made it to the Ancient Forest.

We spent the day walking among western red cedars that have stood for over 1,000 years, crossing boardwalks, streams, and some of the most beautiful forest we’ve ever explored.

The wildlife didn’t disappoint either. Along the way we spotted a mama black bear and cub, another black bear, a young grizzly, and several whitetail deer.

Tomorrow we begin our drive down the Icefields Parkway toward Fairmont Hot Springs.

Sometimes the journey is every bit as memorable as the destination.

Well, today’s plans was to do absolutely nothing but explore the small town of McBride!

We took a few back roads exploring and ended up spotting a black bear and her three cubs in a tree just a few yards from us. Later we found another bear and spent the afternoon exploring Beaver Creek.

Sometimes the unplanned days turn out to be the best ones.

Tomorrow: The Ancient Forest.
