I went to RVX in Salt Lake City. One of my objectives was to learn more about Lithium batteries. The problem with Lithium Ion batteries is the charging. When you charge Lithium ion battery the charger senses that it's charged when it's not. One cell has a full charge the others don't. It takes an hour for the cells to equalize. So the charger needs to start the process over. Xantrex has solved this problem with their charging system.
Another problem is dropping the battery and possible resulting fire. Xantrex has a gel in an outside chamber to prevent this.
Another option is Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries. They don't cause a fire and have better stability.
Using a solar cell and charging system can help you remote camp longer without a generator. Lighter weight and no excess fuel. Motor homes are using this system more frequently now as many smaller RVs had a sign stating they were so equipped.
I hope this helps.
