This 1959 corvette was definitely an interesting build for us at Tom's Vette Shop. When the car came in we were informed that this was the actual movie car from the 1994 film true lies, staring Arnold Schwarzenegger, And Jamie Lee Curtis. The car came in with an interior that was in excellent shape, but certainly needed work in other places. The right side inner fender was cracked in three places. We replaced that with an NOS GM part. As we dug deeper into the car we realized that more work would need to be done to make it perfect once again. The owner decided to go ahead with a full frame off restoration. The chassis was fully dismantled, And every part was rebuilt, refinished, or replaced with only original GM period correct parts. All the way down to the correct bolt head markings. We located a period correct drive train that included a 283 CI, 270 HP, 2x4 engine. A four speed T10 transmission, And a 3:70 posi rear end. After all refinishing and rebuilding was done we began assembly into what you see here. It was a true pleasure to work on a car with such an interesting past.
