SUNDAY AFTERNOON TD2 UPDATE: Tropical depression 2 this afternoon is barely moving... the surface circulation center is about 170 miles south/southeast of Panama City Beach. Sustained winds are 30 mph.
A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect from the Ochlockonee River to the FL/AL border.
TD2 is forecast to become Tropical Storm Bertha late tonight or tomorrow well south of Panama City Beach. It is expected to move westward , with the center staying south of the Central Gulf Coast before moving into Louisiana as a big rain maker Wednesday.
Key messages for the Central Gulf Coast (Gulf Shores to Panama City Beach):
*TD2 is not expected to become a strong tropical storm or a hurricane.
*This feature will bring elevated coverage of showers and storms over the next few days, but no day will be a wash-out. There will be periods of sun. Just expect occasional tropical showers. Rain could be heavy at times.
*A few waterspouts or brief tornadoes will be possible near the coast Tuesday.
*There will be a high danger of rip currents Tuesday and Wednesday.
