Ever wonder how The Jam Sessions in Thunder Valley got its start?

Back in 2011, our founder and head honcho Ron McFall helped Katie Lemkemann organize a benefit concert for local legend Robin Crowe at the Expo Gardens.

Through the planning process and the event itself, Ron realized something powerful: there was a real need for gatherings that celebrated and supported local musicians.

The Peoria music scene has always been a family.

Musicians here are quick to rally around one another, whether that means donating their time for benefits, helping raise money and awareness, or simply showing up to support fellow artists. But one thing working musicians rarely get the chance to do is relax, connect with other bands, and actually enjoy the music around them.

Ron wanted to change that.

What started at the Expo Gardens for The Robin Crowe Family Fundraiser, was an idea to give back to the musicians that always step up to help those in need. So, Ron asked Katie to help organize The Jam Sessions at Expo in March 2013. Then to Ron's backyard a couple times a year for two days of music before finally finding its permanent home in Thunder Valley in 2017.

Over the years, The Jam Sessions has grown into an annual tradition and fundraiser for the Peoria Motorcycle Club, whose continued support helps make this incredible weekend possible year after year.

At its core, The Jam Sessions has always been about community, musicians supporting musicians, and creating a place where local music can thrive. And honestly? That spirit is still alive and loud every single year. 🎸

As we approach motorcycle riding season here in Central Illinois, we want to remind everyone — riders and drivers alike — to take an extra moment to look out for one another on the road.

Every person who gets behind the wheel or throws a leg over a motorcycle is taking a risk. By staying alert, slowing down, putting distractions away, and exercising patience, we can all help make sure everyone gets home safely to the people who love them.

Our families are counting on it.

To the riders: thank you for riding responsibly and staying visible.
To the drivers: thank you for taking that extra second to look twice for motorcycles.

Working together, we can make safe and respectful roadways the norm — not the exception — throughout Central Illinois.

Please help us share this message to spread awareness and encourage safer roads for everyone.
