Terry was a cornerstone of the towing and recovery industry and a driving force behind WreckMaster from the early days. He dedicated his life to educating operators across North America, helping tens of thousands work safer at the roadside and return home to their families.

Terry was a true professional—detail-oriented, thoughtful, and deeply committed to doing things the right way. More importantly, he was genuine, authentic, and a mentor to so many of us who had the privilege to work alongside him.

His impact goes far beyond the classroom. It lives on in every operator who carries his lessons forward each day.

On behalf of the entire WreckMaster team, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Terry’s family and loved ones.

A true legend, RIP Steve

The Garden State Towing Association joins the entire towing and recovery community in mourning the passing of Steve Calitri, founder of American Towman Magazine and the American Towman Expos, and hugely influential leader in our industry.

Steve’s vision and unwavering commitment elevated the towing profession on a national scale. Through his publications, events, and outreach, he brought widespread attention to the challenges and dangers towers face every day. His dedication to promoting the Slow Down, Move Over law helped amplify a life-saving message to the motoring public and strengthened the industry’s collective voice for roadside safety.

We are especially grateful for Steve’s support of towing associations across the country. His work will continue to benefit the industry for generations.

The Garden State Towing Association extends its deepest condolences to Doc Calitri, the entire Calitri family, and the American Towman team. Steve’s contributions shaped the modern towing landscape, and his legacy will remain a guiding force for advancing our profession.

Rest in peace, Steve. Your leadership, passion, and commitment to the towing community will endure.
