The business is family owned and operated since 2007, Owned by Dan's Automotive Mike's serves their customers along with any one else that's needs to be towed. The business not only does standard to heavy duty towing but also hauls anything from small to midsize tractors or sheds also handles lockouts, jumpstarts, and tire changes. The fleet contains four trucks an extended cab rollback, a standa

rd cab wrecker, a 25 ton heavy duty, and an 2004 Tahoe service vehicle. During the weekday we operate with one to two drivers then weekends we have another one or two drivers to assist depending on weather etc. Mike's was recently under new ownership back in summer of 2012 but since then the company has been on a up rise to becoming bigger and better each day. And not each day is a normal day there will always be something different about each tow that we see.

This morning we welcomed SHAES to conduct some extrication training on several vehicles this will allow them to always be ready and freshened up on skills when the call comes in. We have partnership with fire agencies across the west side of the county to offer vehicles whenever needed to train on. A big reason we keep hold of vehicles is for stuff like this because departments are always looking for vehicles to train on.

The last 2 weeks we donated cars and set up a Mass casualty incident drill for MSP. What an honor and privilege it was to be involved with this, As always we love doing events like this as it creates a better working relationship with other emergency responders. Also assisting in this drill was VBEMS Life EMS and Aero Med. Again thanks to MSP for allowing us to be a part of this.

A call we received yesterday for a small tractor that was rolled over and with minimal access we opted for truck 1 due to limited space and accessibility. We were able to come around the back side of the owners garage and down the hill a little ways. Once in position both lines were drug out to steer the casualty around the small gazebo still on its side, once away from that it was uprighted and steered back up to the top of the hill for the customer. We were assisted by SHAES where they disconnected the battery prior to our arrival and also helped with a few extra set of eyes due to distance between the truck and the casualty. Perks of the job is no 2 days are the same when you have a love and passion for the job and the community you work in it makes it all worth it.

This past Monday we were requested east of Mattawan for an Excavator that came off a trailer and landed in the roadway, Approximately weight was around 40k. Even without a rotator we were still able to recover the unit and get it back onto its tracks where it was loaded for transport. This job was one for the books but at the end of the day the customer was happy as there was no secondary damage to the unit and it was able to be ran to load onto another trailer. A special thanks to MSP and Van Buren Sheriffs department for giving us the safe space to work and safely recover this unit.

Been a very long and busy week starting with sprint races in Hartford last Thursday, Friday truck 31 towed a tractor from ludington to Kalamazoo. Tuesday the man lift was a stolen recover transported back to Detroit and truck 31 hauled a good truck back to Indiana. We’ve also handled numerous crashes and other calls for service. As always we appreciate our customer base and well be there no matter the day to assist in any way.
