TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK: 250,000 LBS OF PET FOOD DELIVERED! 🐾🚚
Over the past year, a massive collaborative effort has been quietly unfolding across Maine—and we just crossed an incredible milestone. Together, a dedicated network of organizations has distributed over 250,000 pounds of pet food to local shelters, rescues, and food pantries throughout Maine!
This life-saving supply chain is a beautiful example of community teamwork:
🌟 The Donation: A huge thank you to Chewy, working in collaboration with Maine Humane (an ambassador for Greater Good Charities). Chewy provides this critical bulk food, dropping it off at a central hub in Augusta.
🌟 The Staging: Last winter, Bangor Humane Society and Eastern Area Agency on Aging reached out to Rebecca Quirk to help bridge the geographic gap. Quirk Auto Group stepped up to move the bulk food from Augusta to our central Parts building on Hogan Road in Bangor.
🌟 The Clever Logistics (The Final Mile!): From the Bangor hub, the Furry Friends Food Bank (part of EAAA) and the Bangor Humane Society lead the coordination. Then, the magic happens: Our Hogan Road location serves as a local pickup hub for Bangor-area rescues, while our Quirk Parts Driver loads additional pet food and supplies on their Houlton route to Houlton Humane Society. This creates a central northern drop point, saving our Aroostook County rescue partners both fuel costs and hours of driving so they can more easily pick up their supplies locally in Houlton instead of traveling down to Augusta or Bangor.
Because of this seamless coordination, ten vital regional organizations have been able to keep their communities fed and resources focused where they are needed most:
🔹 The Pixel Fund Pet Rescue
🔹 Bar Harbor Food Pantry
🔹 Howland Animal Control
🔹 Half Way Home Pet Rescue (Caribou)
🔹 PAWS Animal Welfare Society, Inc, Fort Kent
🔹 Houlton Humane Society
🔹 SPCA of Hancock County
🔹 Animal Orphanage (Old Town, Maine)
🔹 Old Dogs New Digs
🔹 Furry Friends Food Bank (Brewer)
It takes a village to support our four-legged community members. We are incredibly grateful to Chewy, the Maine Humane Society, BHS, EAAA, and the Quirk Parts Driver who handles the heavy lifting on their run.
