One of these things is not like the other...
At Autobahn we had a pretty major engine failure in the that resulted in a pretty big fire ball. It happened with no warning, good oil pressure and still running until I turned it off. I did over rev the car 2 laps before the failure but it seemed fine, well, until it let go. I went back through the data and everything looked great. It is hard to tell what had caused the failure because most of the evidence got scattered from turn 7 to turn 8. My best guess is the overrev slightly stretched a rod bolt, causing it to spin the bearing, break the rod and windowed both sides of the block and oil pan. Another meets a cruel end.
