Happy Monday from Bandon RV Park! It is officially June 1st, 2026—the start of a brand-new month and the perfect time to map out your next coastal adventure. Whether you are shifting your stabilizers for an extended stay with us or pulling onto Highway 101 today to head toward new horizons, Monday is all about setting a wonderful tone for the week ahead! 🚐💨✨

📜 Today in Bandon History (June 1st):
On this day in 1951, local maritime logs recorded the official start of the summer commercial salmon season out of the Port of Bandon. Following years of post-war harbor improvements, the Coquille River marina was bustling at dawn with captains prepping their lines and locals gathering on the docks to wish them luck. Over 75 years later, that same hard-working, coastal spirit defines our community. It’s a wonderful reminder on this Motive Monday to approach your new week with clear focus and an eye on the horizon! ⚓🐟🌊

🥞 Local Business Spotlight: Bandon Coffee Cafe

🌊☀️ SPOTLIGHT SUNDAY: Welcome to June & A Tropical Dessert Skillet! ☀️🌊
Happy Sunday from Bandon RV Park! Today is May 31st—the final day of May and the perfect gateway into beautiful June. Whether you are packing up your rig after a wonderful weekend getaway or rolling into your site to start a fresh week with us, Sunday on the coast is all about slowing down, breathing in the fresh salt air, and savoring sweet moments. 🚐💨✨

📜 Today in Bandon History (May 31st):
On this day in 1947, the Port of Bandon officially completed a major post-war harbor dredging project. This allowed larger commercial fishing vessels and recreational boats to safely cross the Coquille River bar and dock right at our waterfront. It was a massive milestone that secured Bandon's reputation as a premier destination for seafood lovers and sport fishermen alike. Over seven decades later, walking down to that same historic harbor to watch the boats roll in remains a favorite Sunday tradition! ⚓🚢🌊

🍤 Local Business Spotlight: Tony's Crab Shack
Looking for the ultimate Sunday lunch or dinner to celebrate a beautiful weekend? Take a short stroll down to the boardwalk and grab a seat at Tony's Crab Shack!

The Vibe: Casual, lively, and located right on the water. It’s the quintessential Oregon Coast seafood shack where the staff makes you feel right at home.

The Recommendation: You cannot go wrong with their world-famous Dungeness Crab Sandwich or a piping hot bowl of their rich, creamy clam chowder.

Pro-Tip: Want to catch your own dinner instead? Tony’s also rents out crabbing rings and bait, and they will even steam your fresh catch right there on the dock for you! 🦀🍟🍤

🍍 Spotlight Sunday RV Kitchen: 15-Minute Cinnamon-Glazed Tropical Pineapple Skillet
Want a warm, caramelized treat that brings all the summer vibes to your picnic table without turning on your RV oven? This sweet, single-skillet recipe takes minutes and is incredibly delicious on a warm evening!

Ingredients:

1 fresh pineapple, cut into thick wedges (or 1 large can of pineapple slices, thoroughly drained and patted dry)

3 tbsp butter

3 tbsp brown sugar

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

A pinch of salt

Optional: Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for topping!

The Quick Fix:

The Melt: Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat on your camp stove or outdoor grill grate.

The Sear: Lay the pineapple pieces down flat in the hot butter. Let them sear undisturbed for about 3 to 4 minutes until they develop beautiful, deeply caramelized brown edges. Flip and repeat on the other side.

The Glaze: Turn the heat down to low. Evenly sprinkle the brown sugar, cinnamon, and a tiny pinch of salt over the pineapple.

The Simmer: Gently turn the pineapple wedges a few times as the sugar dissolves into the butter. Let it bubble for 1 to 2 minutes until it forms a thick, rich, glossy caramel coating.

The Serve: Plate them warm, drizzle the extra warm glaze from the pan right over the top, and add a scoop of vanilla ice cream if you have it! 🍍🍦🔥

🛠️ RV Pro-Tip: The "Anti-Salt" Weekend Awning Rinse
Spending time on the coast means enjoying plenty of refreshing salt air, but that same salt film loves to settle on your RV components—especially your awning!
The Real Fix: 1. The Rollout: Before you pack up and head out onto the highway today, roll your awning all the way out.
2. The Rinse: Spray it down thoroughly with fresh water from your campground hose to wash away the sticky salt film, sand, and coastal pine needles before rolling it back up.
3. The Benefit: This quick, 5-minute step prevents mold, mildew, and salt-induced dry rot on your awning fabric, ensuring it looks brand new and works perfectly for years to come! 🚐🚿☀️🔧

📜 Today in Bandon History (May 30th):
On this day in 1939, local fishermen gathered at the Port of Bandon docks to celebrate the launch of a newly designed, locally built commercial crabbing boat. Bandon has always been a premier hub for seafaring innovation, and our tight-knit community has spent generations perfecting the art of harvesting the Pacific Ocean. It’s a wonderful piece of history to look back on as you walk down to the docks today to drop a crab pot or watch the boats roll in! ⚓🦀🌊

🛍️ Local Business Spotlight: Old Town Marketplace Farmers Market

🍓 Social Saturday RV Kitchen: 10-Minute Skillet Berry Cobbler
Want a warm, bubbly dessert to share with your campground neighbors tonight without washing a mountain of dishes? This clever recipe uses a brilliant campground shortcut and cooks perfectly right on your outdoor camp stove!

Ingredients:

1 can (21 oz) marionberry or blackberry pie filling

1 cup fresh blueberries or sliced strawberries

1 tube (16.3 oz) refrigerated flaky layers buttermilk biscuits

2 tbsp butter, melted

1 tbsp cinnamon sugar

The Quick Fix:

The Base: In a medium cast-iron skillet, stir together the canned pie filling and the fresh berries.

The Cobbler Crust: Open the tube of biscuits. Separate them and cut each biscuit into quarters. Arrange the biscuit pieces evenly over the top of the berry mixture.

The Sweet Finish: Brush the tops of the biscuit pieces with the melted butter and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar generously over the top.

The Bake: Cover the skillet tightly with a sheet of aluminum foil. Place it over medium-low heat on your camp stove (or low campfire coals) for 10 to 12 minutes until the biscuits are cooked through, fluffy, and the berry juice is hot and bubbling.

The Serve: Remove the foil and let it sit for 2 minutes to cool slightly, then spoon it out warm into bowls! 🍓🥣🔥

🛠️ RV Pro-Tip: The Weekend "Water Pressure" Safety Reset
On sunny weekend mornings, campgrounds get incredibly busy. When everyone showers and washes dishes at the exact same time, water pressure can fluctuate across the park.
The Real Fix: 1. The Regulator: Always use a brass water pressure regulator attached directly to the campground spigot before your drinking hose. While pressure might dip during peak morning hours, it can spike dangerously high late at night when everyone turns their faucets off.
2. The Boost Trick: If you prefer a high-pressure shower during the busy morning rush, simply turn your RV's internal 12V water pump on to draw from your fresh water tank for a temporary pressure boost.
3. The Benefit: The regulator protects your interior plumbing lines from high-pressure leaks, while the pump trick guarantees a great shower anytime! 🚐🚿💧🔧

🛠️ RV Pro-Tip: The Weekend "Shore Power" Connection Check
As campgrounds fill up for sunny weekends, the electrical grid gets worked hard. Make sure your connection is safe, clean, and tight today!
The Real Fix: 1. The Inspection: Before turning the breaker on at the pedestal, check your power cord plug for any bent prongs, corrosion, or dark burn marks. Clean prongs mean less electrical resistance.
2. The Tight Fit: Plug your cord firmly into our 30/50 amp outlet and give it a slight clockwise twist if using a locking collar. A loose plug creates high heat, which can damage your expensive cord.
3. The Benefit: A clean, snug connection ensures your air conditioner, microwave, and fridge run perfectly all weekend long without tripping breakers! 🚐🔌⚡🔧

The Real Fix: 1. The Foam Filter: Turn off your AC unit, pop off the plastic return ceiling grille, and pull out the thin foam filters. You'll likely find a buildup of coastal pollen, dust, and pet dander.
2. The Clean: Don't buy new ones! Simply wash them in your RV sink with warm water and a drop of dish soap. Squeeze them out gently in a towel and let them air dry completely before popping them back in.
3. The Benefit: Clean filters increase your AC's airflow by up to 20%, keeping your rig ice-cold on sunny days, preventing the cooling coils from freezing up, and saving you money on electricity! 🚐💨❄️🔧

🛠️ RV Pro-Tip: The "Post-Holiday" Weight & Packing Check
For many RVers, Memorial Day Monday means breaking camp and hitting the highway. Before you pull out of your site today, do a quick safety walkthrough!
The Real Fix: 1. The Heavy Items: Make sure any heavy items you bought over the weekend (like cases of local drinks or heavy coastal souvenirs) are secured low down and centered over your RV axles. Loose cargo can shift unexpectedly on winding coastal roads.
2. The Exterior Walk: Double-check that your TV antenna is down, your shore cords are safely put away, and your hitch pins are locked tight.
3. The Benefit: Properly distributed weight prevents dangerous trailer sway on the highway and saves wear and tear on your suspension, ensuring you reach your next destination safely! 🚐📦🛣️🔧

📜 Today in Bandon History (May 24th):
On this day in 1942, during the early months of WWII, Bandon residents officially organized a volunteer beach patrol unit. Local citizens took turns keeping watch over our rugged coastlines and sea stacks to protect the mouth of the Coquille River. On this Memorial Day weekend, we look back with immense gratitude for that same protective, community-first spirit that has always defined our beautiful town. ⚓🇺🇸🌊

🍳 Spotlight Sunday RV Kitchen: 15-Minute Campfire Apple Pie Skillet
Want a warm, comforting Sunday dessert that takes almost no effort in your RV kitchen? This quick skillet trick brings the family together around the picnic table.

Ingredients:

2 cans (21 oz each) premium apple pie filling

1/2 cup snickerdoodle or oatmeal cookies, roughly crushed

2 tbsp butter

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Optional: A scoop of vanilla ice cream!

The Quick Fix:

The Melt: Melt the butter in a medium skillet over medium-low heat on your camp stove or low campfire coals.

The Simmer: Pour in the apple pie filling and sprinkle the extra cinnamon on top. Stir gently and let it simmer for 5 to 6 minutes until the apples are hot, bubbling, and fragrant.

The Crunch: Sprinkle the crushed cookies evenly over the top of the hot apples. Leave it on the heat for 2 more minutes so the cookie topping gets warm and absorbs some of that rich cinnamon flavor.

The Serve: Spoon it directly into bowls, top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if you have it, and enjoy a warm, sweet end to your weekend! 🍏🥣🔥

🛠️ RV Pro-Tip: The Holiday Weekend "Black Tank" Defense
With full parks on a holiday weekend, keeping your RV's plumbing happy is rule number one.
The Real Fix: 1. Keep it Closed: Never leave your black tank valve open while hooked up to our sewer system, even if you are staying for weeks. Leaving it open lets the liquids drain out while solids stay behind, leading to the dreaded "pyramid plug."
2. The Flush: Only dump your black tank when it is at least 2/3 full. If you need to dump before you leave on Monday, fill the tank up the rest of the way with fresh water using your toilet pedal first.
3. The Benefit: A full tank creates a powerful "swoosh" that clears out all debris completely, keeping your sensors working perfectly and your rig odor-free! 🚐💦🚽🔧
