I am a retiree with a passion for 60's and early 70s muscle car FORDs who travels the country in search of rescue candidates. I bring them back to my shop in Baltimore and sometimes repair, partially restore, fully restore, or offer as-is for a hobbyist. I will post some projects/cars here as they are available.

Many classic Mustang owners have not seen inside the infamous/troublesome cowl area before. Here's a sneak peek on a '68 coupe in progress. Try counting all the spot welds!

It's always amusing to see what a professional body shop thinks is 'good enough'. Here is an example of rust holes in the top of a fender that were simply covered over by Bondo! The correct way would have been pretty easy - as demonstrated here. Cut away the rot, back to fresh meat, make a pattern from construction paper, transfer the pattern to metal, and weld it in! The only time to use Bondo is to finish the fine lines of the area!

Replacing a frame rail in a classic Mustang isn't really all that bad. Spot-weld methodology actually allows you to surgically remove the desired piece and replace. Of course, some areas of the car are more difficult than others - this one was a pretty easy and straightforward one. Also, almost no one has a spot-welder large enough to reproduce the factory welds, so I do it with 'plug welding' or 'rosette welding' with a MIG machine. Stronger than stock!

Why why why…. Ford engineers must have made a deal with the devil in the late 60s to justify putting a double cardan u joint system in a Lincoln. This is just the front joint.
Minimum pinion angle variation since it is a coil spring rear…
