Polaris Xpedition clutching upgrades and ECM tuning

Here is one of the five that we have done in the past few weeks
Gilomen performance tune. With the dash switch in the cab, you still have the option to run at the stock settings in comfort mode etc

The kit includes 3 adjustable weights, 1 Drive spring, 1 secondary spring, and a helix.

Some customers choose to remove the stock clutch and get the new upgraded performance clutch but not necessary.

These machines are significantly detuned from the factory so this gives it a good, safe, reliable yet enjoyable power 😃

Changes coming this spring. Having built up this business for the last 16 years, I’ve decided to scale back on hours and volume of machines being worked on. I will continue to stock and sell parts like we always have at great price. I have a growing family with young children, and want to spend more time with them.

With my OCD on the work leaving my shop, adding more employees just to pump out more machines could really jeopardize the integrity of the work, and that is not something I’m willing to risk. I have been able to personally oversee everything that has left my shop, and would not be able to do that with more employees and more machines. I have always taken great pride in talking to each individual customer addressing each issue and having good communication throughout the repair.

With that being said, starting March 16 shop hours will change. Monday-Thursday 8 AM - 4 PM, and Friday 8 AM - 3 PM. Along with that, I’m also going to be picking and choosing the type of work I’m willing to work on.

When the trails open, it's always good to keep your snowmobile upright and away from trees, rocks and stumps.

We rebuilt the entire front end on this 2021 Polaris VR1 850. She is just like new and ready to go. Hopefully this time staying on the trails😀

After a little break we are back at it this week with 36 machines coming in that we had scheduled. Here are a few of the jobs so far this week.

Skidoo E-Tec engine rebuilds
Full services on snowmobiles
Power valve cleaning and driven clutch roller upgrades

We currently have over 90 machines scheduled for the month of November so we are already pushed out into December already.

Hopefully we get some ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ this year. We can't go 3 years in a row. 🫣

A reminder that we are currently closed and will be reopening Nov 3rd.

We have got the shop completely cleaned out and organized. We basically got all the customer machines done now and it feels great to be all caught up.

So far in 25 we have seen 807 machines come through the shop. We have sold over 280 tires, 80 plus turn signal kits just too name a few of the most common items.

According to our QuickBooks, our business has grown to 3,347 customers. It is always extremely busy all year round. We average 150 to 250 phone calls per week between 50 to 150 text conversations with customers along with walk-in traffic that is always continuous.

Because of our growth we got extremely far behind this year. We always go by a schedule but we sneak people in that are not on the schedule which also contributed to us falling behind. With this all being said, we decided we needed to get completely caught up and organized. We are shutting the shop down for a while to get a reset. To come back ready to go and continue running a highly efficient, small business.

I always take great pride in telling customers how it is and how we see things. We are very straightforward and do not beat around the bush. If we make a mistake we own up to it and we take care of the problem.

The shop will be closed Monday, October 13th through Friday, October 31st. We will reopen Monday November 3rd.

It has been an extremely busy year averaging 25 to 30 machines per week. We are going to use this break to clean the shop, Do inventory and then the last 2 weeks just getting away to get a reset and a fresh start for the upcoming winter season.

We have started scheduling repairs for the week of November 3rd through the 7th, so if you would like to get on the schedule please let us know as it is filling up fast.

Machine: Polaris ATVs and utvs

Complaint: hard starting (have to pump throttle to get it started) rough idol and efi light on for engine misfire code

Problem: intake and or exhaust valves get tight causing loss of compression in the engine.

Fix 1: remove cam chain tensioner and remove camshafts. Put smaller size shims in to get valve clearance to spec.

Fix2: remove engine and disassemble the top end. Local machinist rebuilds the cylinder head with all brand new aftermarket valves. Have the seats cut/lapped to match new valves and have all new valve guides pressed in with new seals. We also get the cylinder measured, have it honed and re-ring the piston to be on the safe side.

Fix3: if the engine makes bottom end noise then we get a replacement short block through our vendor Umatek. Engine comes with a 1-year warranty.

This is a very common issue. We do between 40 to 60 of them per year. We start with fix 1 the cheaper option first. Even if they get shimmed to meet spec, machines will sometimes still start hard because the valve guides are wore out allowing the valve to move back and forth which also loses compression. Then we go to fix 2. They always start perfect after fix 2.
