The day we said goodbye to one of R/c’s greatest guys is coming up. With that said Bakersfield R/C Raceway will dedicate the season opener, October 5th in recognition of Papa Lou. He will be forever in our hearts. Karen, Papa Lou’s wife asked if I would like to have Lou’s collection of awards. I was honored to have them. There is over 30 years of history and the stories to tell behind everyone is priceless. I will have them on display at the track on Friday October 5th if anyone would like to stop by you are more than welcome. We will be racing Dirt Oval come out and enjoy the night in memory of
Papa Lou. 🏁🙏🏻

🏁 Mr Lou Maldonado Aka "Papa Lou" A Legend a Hero a Mentor. Our Papa of R/c Racing has taken his final lap. He passed away peacefully at his home on October 2nd, 2017. He has left us with endless memories and great times. What is now named Bakersfield R/c Raceway will always be remembered as Papa Lou's Amain Raceway!

Papa Lou requested to have no formal services. The Family has requested a Celebration Of Life for Papa Lou to be held On November 4th, 2017 at the track.

Papa Lou's family will be in attendance so please stop by and pay your respects and share your story and memories. His grandson will have a BBQ to raise funds to support his wife in this time of healing. We will be racing in Honor of Papa Lou celebrating his final lap and all that he has given to us. All proceeds from the event will go to the family.

Time Line: Celebration Of Life 2-4pm with family, with racers until racing is complete!

Practice & Sign ups: 4pm-6:30pm

Racing will start: 7pm

Bakersfield R/C Raceway will host a annual race (TBD) to celebrate one of Bakersfield's Greatest racers. Papa Lou.... He has raced for decades and is one of the most loved racers there has ever been. From the Racers Haven days to taking over the duties of Showtime R/c Raceway and naming it after himself as Papa Lou's A-Main Raceway. He's distinctive accomplishments and love for the R/c community will never be forgotten.
