Blackwater Speedway, previously known as Northwest Florida Speedway, located in Baker, Florida, is preparing to host a significant event weekend in its distinguished history with the inaugural Blackwater Classic. The Ultimate Super Late Model Series will make its initial appearance at the newly surfaced 5/16th-mile clay oval. Extensive facility enhancements have been implemented, including a new clay track, an upgraded concession stand, improved lighting, and an expanded pit area. Ron Wolverton, the track owner and former drag racing standout, along with Courtni Bird, the track promoter, accomplished singer, and versatile event organizer, are diligently working to establish this venue as a premier destination racetrack in the Florida Panhandle.
The "Blackwater Classic" is scheduled for March 19th-21st, featuring two evenings of high-performance 900hp Dirt Super Late Model racing. Thursday, March 19th, will be dedicated to open practice for all participating divisions. Friday, March 20th, will mark the commencement of the multi-day event, with Super Late Models competing for a $4,000 prize for the winner and $400 for participants in a 30-lap race. Saturday, March 21st, will conclude the weekend with a 40-lap finale, offering a $7,000 prize for the winner and $500 for participants.
