Last night we lost the best of the best, Chief Emeritus Dave Roser. Many of you know Dave as he was nicknamed as the Mayor at one time since he knows everyone! We know him simply as Chief..always as Chief. The men and women of the HFC and HFCLA are devastated and broken hearted as you would expect. Please keep Dave's family in your prayers during this extremely difficult time.

🚨 New Law Alert: Paul Miller’s Law Takes Effect June 5, 2025

Starting June 5, 2025, Pennsylvania’s Paul Miller’s Law will go into effect, making it illegal to use handheld devices while driving. This includes texting, calling, browsing, or any other use of an interactive mobile device, even when stopped at a red light or in traffic.

📵 Key Points:
•Effective Date: June 5, 2025
•Prohibited Actions: Holding or supporting with any part of the body an interactive mobile device while driving
•First 12 Months: Written warnings issued
•After June 5, 2026: $50 fine plus court costs and other fees

🚔 Enforcement:
•This is a primary offense, meaning law enforcement can stop and cite drivers solely for using a handheld device while driving.

💡 Exceptions:
•Use of hands-free devices is permitted.
•Emergency calls to 911 are allowed.

This law is named in honor of Paul Miller Jr., a 21-year-old who tragically lost his life in 2010 due to a distracted driver. His mother, Eileen Miller, has been a tireless advocate for safer driving laws in Pennsylvania.
