Florida summer storms can pop up in a hurry! ⛈️

Here's a quick tip to help keep your RV safe:

✅ Retract your awning when you're away from your site or if storms are in the forecast.

Even a brief afternoon thunderstorm can bring strong wind gusts that can damage an extended awning in just a few minutes.

A little prevention today can save you a big repair bill tomorrow! 👍

🏡🤔 Did You Know? Before it was known as Avon Park, the city was originally called **Lake Forest**!

Back in 1884, Connecticut native **Oliver Martin Crosby** arrived in the area to study the wildlife of the Everglades. A few years later, enough settlers had followed that the community was incorporated as Lake Forest.

So how did it become Avon Park?

An English woman living in the area thought the community reminded her of her hometown of **Stratford-upon-Avon** in England and convinced Crosby to change the name. 🇬🇧✨

Thankfully, "Avon Park" had a much nicer ring to it than "Lake Forest, Florida" ... and probably made road trip directions a lot less confusing! 😄

The City of Avon Park was officially incorporated in 1926 and remains one of the oldest communities in Highlands County.

We love discovering the stories that make our corner of Florida so unique. ❤️

🍊🥭 Hey Lake Letta Neighbors... Fresh Florida Goodness Is Just Up the Road! 🍑🍯

One of the best parts of living here is discovering wonderful local businesses like this roadside fruit stand Lanier’s produce just north of Sun Ray on US 27. 🌞

The owner couldn't have been more welcoming and greeted us with a big smile, offering samples of everything. You'll find fresh mangoes, peaches, oranges, tomatoes, and plums, along with local honey and delicious fruit preserves. 😋

If you're out for a drive, stop by, pick up some fresh Florida produce, and support a local small business. You'll be glad you did! ❤️

☀️🇺🇸 Hey Lake Letta Neighbors, Beat the Heat This Fourth of July Weekend & Stay Safe! 🇺🇸☀️

Whether you're celebrating at the beach, on the boat, around the grill, or watching fireworks, the record-breaking summer heat wave making its way across the country this weekend can sneak up on you. 🌡️

Stay safe and enjoy the holiday by remembering these simple tips:

💧 Drink plenty of water—even if you don't feel thirsty.
🧴 Apply (and reapply!) sunscreen throughout the day.
🧢 Wear a hat, sunglasses, and lightweight, light-colored clothing.
🌴 Take breaks in the shade or air conditioning whenever possible.
🍺 If you're drinking alcohol, alternate with water to stay hydrated.
