A 2007 Toyota Solara came in last week with shuddering vibrations at highway speed and a battery that wasn't charging. The driver thought it was an electrical issue. The real problem? The serpentine belt had completely failed, which shut down the alternator. The battery was trying to power the entire vehicle without any help, which is why everything started falling apart—engine shuddering, stiff power steering, no AC.

Austin heat is brutal. When your A/C stops blowing cold, you assume it just needs a recharge. Not always.
We worked on a 2019 Nissan NV200 with that expectation. We ran a complete diagnostic with leak detection, evacuated and recharged the system to spec with R134, then ran a leak test.
No leaks. Refrigerant holding steady.
But the compressor still wouldn't engage.
When you have proper refrigerant levels, a sealed system, and the compressor still refuses to work—you're dealing with internal compressor failure, not a recharge problem.
The compressor is the heart of your A/C system. It pressurizes refrigerant and moves it through the condenser and ev***rator. Without a working compressor, a full tank of refrigerant doesn't matter.

Just get towed and suddenly experience new problems? See new warning lights? Your first instinct might be panic.
Here's what we've learned working with South Austin drivers: towing usually doesn't cause new problems but it might bring existing ones to the surface. Think of it like shaking a soda can. The pressure was already building; the shake (a rough tow) just made it obvious.
We recently helped a driver with exactly this. Aged spark plugs combined with compromised valve cover gaskets were working together to create the ticking and trigger a warning light. A weakened battery was also part of it, causing voltage fluctuations that affected sensors.

We recently worked on a 2012 Silverado with this exact problem. Road debris on the wheel speed sensors and a loose wheel angle sensor connector were confusing the truck's stability control system. Neither issue alone would trigger the light, but together they made the system unable to read accurate wheel speed or steering angle data.
We cleaned the sensors, secured the connector, and ran a test drive. Simple fixes, but they address the actual root cause instead of just clearing the code and hoping it stays gone.
