Cars are built to be driven. Sitting for extended periods can create its own issues.

If your vehicle will be parked for a while, a few simple steps can help protect it:

Use a battery maintainer to help keep the battery from draining to a level which would shorten it's life. Add fuel stabilizer if the fuel will not be used up for over a month. If possible, roll the vehicle periodically to help reduce the chance of tire flat spotting. Even if you are out of town or unable to drive, have a trusted family member or neighbor drive the car.

Every vehicle and storage situation is a little different, so always follow the owner’s manual for long-term storage recommendations.

And if your vehicle has been sitting for an extended period, it may be worth having it checked over before putting it back into regular use.
