🚨 JEEP SAGA UPDATE: We Found the Smoking Gun 🚨

You may remember the Jeep that attempted to gas out our technician Juan when the heater core catastrophically failed while idling in the shop.

Now that we've completed disassembly, we've uncovered exactly what happened—and the photos tell the story.

The replacement engine previously installed in this Jeep suffered a head gasket failure. During teardown, we found the head gasket's locating rivets were improperly positioned, preventing the gasket from sealing correctly. Combined with improperly torqued head bolts, combustion pressure was able to enter the cooling system.

The result? An immense amount of pressure built up in the cooling system over time. Eventually, the heater core became the weakest link and literally ruptured, sending v***rized coolant throughout the vehicle's cabin.

Rather than simply replacing failed components and hoping for the best, we're correcting the root cause. During reassembly, we've chosen to install a bonded head gasket designed to provide superior sealing and long-term reliability compared to the failed gasket that came out of the engine.

This repair serves as a reminder that proper assembly procedures matter. Even a relatively small mistake during an engine installation can lead to major failures and costly repairs later on.

A blown heater core, v***rized coolant filling the cab, and a hidden engine problem waiting underneath — just another day of diagnostics at Chase Automotive Repair

While diagnosing an unrelated concern on this Jeep, our technician Juan noticed coolant v***r suddenly pouring into the interior after the heater core literally failed while idling in the bay. Situations like this are exactly why proper automotive diagnostics matter.

After further inspection, we discovered the Jeep’s recently replaced engine had likely suffered a head gasket failure caused by improperly torqued head bolts during a previous installation.
