A Mechanic’s Prayer

Lord,

Give me steady hands when the bolt won’t break free,
and patience when the problem hides deeper than it should.
Keep my mind sharp and my temper calm
when the job gets harder and the day gets longer.

Protect me in the shop—
from slipping wrenches, falling lifts, and rushed decisions.
Watch over my body when it’s tired,
and my spirit when the work feels heavy.

Let my work be honest,
my word be trusted,
and my name be spoken with respect when I’m not in the room.
Help me fix what can be fixed,
and accept what can’t—without cutting corners.

Bless the hands that labor beside me
and the families waiting for us at home.
Remind me why I started—
to provide, to build, to keep the world moving one repair at a time.

And when I come home with busted knuckles and worn boots,

let my family see not just the grease,
but the love behind it.

Amen. 🔧

AI isn’t taking a mechanic’s job. Period.

You can automate data.

You can scan codes.

You can run diagnostics faster than ever.

Heck you can Google or YouTube.

But you can’t replace hands that feel a vibration before a scanner catches it.

You can’t replace experience that knows a sound isn’t “normal” even when the computer says it is.
You can’t replace grit, busted knuckles, instinct, and the pride of fixing what others give up on.

Mechanics don’t just “follow instructions.”
We solve problems in the real world — rusted bolts, hacked wiring, shortcuts from five owners ago, and breakdowns that don’t come with a manual.

AI might tell you what failed.

It still takes a mechanic to make it right.

This trade was built by men and women who:
-Learn by doing, not Googling
-Adapt to new tech without losing old-school skill
-Keep the world moving while everyone else talks about the future

So let the headlines talk.

Let the buzzwords trend.

Wrenches aren’t going extinct.
Mechanics aren’t replaceable.
And this job still takes heart.

My hands don’t look like they used to — and they never will again.

The skin is thick where it used to be soft. Old cuts never fully faded, just turned into pale lines with stories behind them. No matter how hard I scrub, there’s always a hint of grease left in the creases, like the job refuses to let go.

These hands have slipped on hot metal and kept going.

They’ve felt vibrations before they became failures.

They’ve reached places no one ever sees, fixing things no one else wanted to touch.

They shake off cold mornings and long nights. They remember the weight of every tool without looking. They know when to push harder and when to stop before something snaps.

Most people see rough hands and think damage.
I see experience.

Because these hands have kept engines alive, gotten people home, and carried the pride of a trade that’s built on doing things right when no one’s watching.

They aren’t pretty — but they’re earned.
And I wouldn’t trade them for clean ones.

Regional Crime Trend!! Tire & wheel theft, put out by the Rocklin police.
Thieves are targeting newer model, Toyota Camry vehicles with sport trim rims and tires. Toyota Corolla‘s have also been targeted as well as newer model Honda Civic and an Accords. This usually happens in the overnight hours two vehicle vehicles parked in apartment complexes.

As a deterrent, install wheel locks/locking lug nuts and park in well lit areas. If you are able to store your vehicle in a secure garage if possible .

This trend is not specific to Rockland, California only. If you become a victim of a wheel or tire theft, contact the police department nonemergency number to file a report. If you see suspicious activity, report it!!
