08/17/2026
A Stage 2 Burn Ban goes into effect tomorrow, August 17, 2026, until further notice for Unincorporated Pierce County.
The Stage 2 Burn Ban change is due to worsening dry conditions, ongoing drought, and increased wildfire risk across the region. It will stay in effect until conditions improve.
What’s changed from the Burn Ban issued in June?
🚫 No outdoor burning at all – including any outdoor/recreational burn pits, backyard fire pits, or backyard fireplaces.
🚫 Burn permits are still suspended – and will remain so until all burn bans are lifted.
What is allowed?
✅ Charcoal in grills and gas grills/heaters are allowed if they are on a non-combustible surface.
