Wow, the "excellent adventure" continued, I have a lot to post on the incredible places that Gary and I have visited along the way and will in a few days. We have been in Orlando Fl. now for a couple of days at the WorldPac STX 2022 convention. We have both been teaching and hanging out with some of the most incredible instructors/industry leaders in our profession. In total, we are all presenting around 260 classes to about 2400 students in just a few day's time. It is an amazing accomplishment to pull this off. Words nor pictures can do it justice, you really need to experience it. Here are just a few pic's of our team in action. Gary, Craig and Cliff, all are incredible assets to our industry. The passion that these boys have is Just freaking incredible:)

The "excellent adventure" continues with our full day, hands-on scanner and labscope training in Lake Havasu (home of the London Bridge). I saw the biggest burrito (4ft and they ate the whole damn thing) that I have ever seen in my life as lunch was presented to our students. What an incredible group of technicians and a great day. We followed that up by beginning our eastward journey to Orlando Fl. for the STX 2022 Convention. Unfreaking believable travel last night through New Mexico, without a single motel room available. They were all absolutely packed and sold out, all of them literally dozens, Hard for me to understand why everyone wanted to be in the center of the middle of nowhere:) So, we ended up clocking about 1k miles and presenting a full day's class in about 26hrs. We finally found a motel in the night club and party central town of Vega Tx., great name for a town to a couple of gearheads.

The "excellent adventure" continues with a few stops around Phoenix and Lake Havasu for some wicked cool hands-on lab scope, deposit and scan data classes. While we have been in town a bit (like a dozen or so:)) of problem child vehicle diagnostics has certainly in the mix. We even found time to take a break and perform a power steering fluid flush on the DiagWag 'n loosened her up a bit (that fluid was nasty with 300k miles on it and the steering was getting a bit crunchy), steering as smooth as butter now. All of this with the incredible chemistry knowledge and help from Will at Southwestern Wynn's Products. Here are just a couple pic's including one of the dirtiest throttle bodies that I have seen in a very long time and of course the obligatory "wiped-out cam lobe 'n follower" found in HP fuel pump system in the VAG 2.0 TFSI :). Hope to see some of you at the STX convention in Orlando, Florida next week.

The "excellent adventure" continues. The "DiagWag" delivered us to Palm Desert Ca. where we began our diagnostics/repair of the "failed smog" Corolla. We hit a home run on it, not only did we get it repaired but got the monitors run and were able to deliver the vehicle back to the owner with completed smog test in hand. It was truly rewarding to see the owners delighted reaction to what he thought was a doomed outcome. Due to the quick diag/repair we were now a bit ahead of schedule. So, what do a couple of gearheads like Gary 'n myself do? Yup, we took a few high speed runs in the Wags over one of the funnest roads our Nation has to offer. At approximately 18 miles long the Dillan road is a freaking blast. We were giggling like school girls as the Wags tore it up. She may be a bit long in the tooth but no doubt she loved the suspension workout. She even showed us a bit of gratitude with a broken belt in a front tire:)

The "excellent adventure" continues with many miles traveled and a visit to the Grand Canyon. Along the way a bit of "DiagNation" diagnostics on a very old school coach:). The "DiagWag" has done a great job of delivering us to Palm Desert in Ca. so we can diagnose/repair a "failed smog" issue and then the Wag's will shuttle us to Phoenix Az. so we can present some wicked cool hands-on scope and deposit training. It should be illegal to have this much fun training technicians and diagnosing vehicles across the nation.

1st installment of "Gary 'n Adam's excellent adventure". As many of you know, Gary Smith and I left the VISION KC 2022 training conference and hit the road in the "totally excellent DiagWag" oh, that would be a 1998 Volvo wagon:). We are traveling across the US from Southern Ca to Florida, with many stops to provide some in-person, hands-on automotive training. We will eventually end up at the ATE Seattle training convention in early April. As I write this post we are heading off to the Grand Canyon. Here are a few pic's of the DiagWag in action entering the abyss and coming out unscathed after ~12k ft of the wicked Wolf pass.

Check out these door panels in this Uber ride from the airport to the Vision conference. The owner says he has a very excteable Corgi. These are both the rears and the fronts look the same. It's been a while since I've seen this type of damage:). If you look closer at the pics you can see that all the damage is done to just the door handle area, guess he wanted the doors opened.

Sitting in the airport enjoying an adult beverage (breakfast). Heading to the 30th year of the Vision KC training convention. We will be teaching a few fantastic classes. Would love to see you, so stop on by one of our classrooms or find us at one of the amazing industry sponsor booths at the expo. PicoScope, AESWave, CTI/WTI, Autoland Scientech

Well, not exactly automotive based but my VR students know (and have seen) that my cat loves to be in my production studio during my presentations. They have seen that the removal of the cat (named Naughty) can be a bit of a monster and violent. When I say violent I mean throw a towel over her to avoid the blood leakage kind. Here is a picture of her being a bit upset that I am brushing my teeth:)

Thanks Casey Orndorf, this gave me a smile. In my classes, I commonly refer to the diagnosis of cars being a bit like a roll playing video game with puzzles. The big difference is that when we got stuck and couldn't figure something out we just went down to the game store and snuck a peek at a strategy guide. It was (and still is) quite a bit like cheating but the frustrations were real:). Our industry would be a lot easier if we had the same super secret decoder guides to aid us in our vehicle diagnostics/repairs.

Great job Pico, with the release of the new "much smaller" TA496 60a low current BNC+ probe. Designed for the 4225A/4425A this probe is much smaller than the original TA473, it is even smaller than the TA018 standard 20/60a low current BNC probe. Users will also feel that the cable is much softer and more flexible. You may also notice the lack of a "zero" function on these BNC+ probes, these probes are powered and zeroed via the Pico software. This eliminates the frustrating "dead battery scenario and zero creep" that we have all experienced. So, with the introduction of these probes, we can now perform much longer time base captures without those dead/low battery issues and a great reduction in "zero offset issues". Those who use these incredible diagnostic tools will surely appreciate these features and the newest TA496's reduction in size. , ,
