This is going to be a long post but you need to pay attention if you're looking at purchasing a vehicle.
I got a text from a great friend yesterday morning. He asked me to give him a call to talk about a pricing mistake he had discovered after he had gotten home from purchasing a vehicle at a Nissan dealership.
When I called the first thing I said was "your first mistake was not buying a vehicle from me!" Sure there would be a long drive or some shipping involved since he lives in PA.
He went on to say that he went through the typical buying process. He test drove the vehicle, got his trade appraised and sat down to negotiate. The sales person presented the numbers, with his trade included. They showed him an out the door price of 30,000.
My friend then told the sales person that he would take the vehicle at 25,000. The sales person said he thought he was nuts but he would ask his manager. In typical dealership form the manager came in to present the new numbers.
The manager said he would do the deal at 25K but he would have to finance to get that price (he was going to pay cash.) So my friend go excited that they accepted his offer and agreed to do the financing.
This is where he made his mistake.
My friend submitted his credit app and then he proceeded to the finance office once he was approved. The finance manager presented all of the paperwork including the monthly payment (which he didn't care about, but should have, since he was going to pay it off right away,) he signed everything without reading any of the numbers or the fine print.
Once he finished the paperwork him and his family took home their new ride.
Once he got home he started thinking about the numbers and went back to the paperwork. He discovered that they hadn't discounted the vehicle at all and that he still paid the full 27500 (he put 2500 down,) for the Pathfinder.
He was pi**ed and couldn't sleep all night since there was nothing he can do about this issue till Monday morning. He is going to call the dealership this morning to see if they will correct their mistake and honor the pricing they agreed to. (I'll update the story once I hear the dealership's response.)
The moral of the story is, be careful when buying a vehicle. Be sure to read everything, especially the payment amount, interest rate and financed amount.
This is why I love my dealership East Tennessee Auto Outlet & East Tennessee Auto Outlet Madisonville. We don't play any of these games, we go over all of the numbers, and we also don't charge any kind of dealer or doc fees.
If you're looking for a vehicle you need to come see me ASAP but if I don't have what you're looking (I can do my best to find it,) and if you end up at another dealership feel free to call me for help. I'll do what I can to help you as best I can even if you aren't buying from me.
