Red Clay Classic Update
We have had a few calls about drivers checks and wanted to let everyone know that all checks were mailed out last week and should be arriving to you soon.
All drivers who competed in a B-Feature and Main events received the full pay off that was posted. Our Board of Directors made the decision to provide a full payout despite the poor weather on Saturday forcing us to race on Sunday afternoon. We understood that racing on Sunday our attendance would not match what we would have seen if we raced on Saturday. But we have always done what’s right for all and feel the drivers showed up and deserve a full payoff. We understand that by making this commitment the Ashland-Bayfield Co Racing Association will probably end with a break even for this event, but it’s the right thing to do. We always are looking for the betterment of racing.
We had some issues because of weather and those will be addressed in the future. One of those issues is the two day admission we charged everyone in the pits. We will, in the future look at the forcast and if rain is expected, will offer a one day pass each day. Grandstand side will remain the same as we will still offer both a one day and weekend pass.
We moved the Mid-West mods B-mains to Friday and move up the start time on Saturday to beat the 7:00 pm rain forcast for Saturday. We felt that by doing so we could get the full event completed on Saturday. But Mother Nature changed and rains came earlier than originally anticipated. Thanks to the drivers for helping with that, but again it was not perfect and will be looked at again in the future.
We appreciate every driver, fan and volunteer who help make this event one of the biggest and best in all of Wissota. Your support has help build this event into what it is today.
We say thanks to drivers for your attendance this year and for the past 50 years. Your support has been awesome and hence why your checks are for the 100% of the $140,000 posted purse.
We hope everyone enjoyed you weekend with us and we are now working on the 52nd Red Clay Classic on Oct 1&2 2027
