Yes, I build Defenders from the ground up. But that’s not all I do. Higher Ground Rovers of WNC is open for repair and maintenance on your Defender too. Big job or small, if it’s a Defender, I want to work on it. DM to get on the schedule.

A sticky brake caliper. A weeping seal. A rattle you can’t place. A service that’s overdue. Small jobs are what keep a Defender from being on the trail and stuck in your driveway. Big job or small, they all get the same care as the big ones. Send me your list.

Buckingham Blue. Because black felt too obvious for something this rare.

Hand-restored, dressed in butter-soft tan interior, finished with the kind of detail you only notice up close. This isn’t a truck you drive to be seen, it’s one you drive because you already know.

Limited by nature. Owned by few.

Buckingham Blue. A color that never goes out of style.
There are Defenders, and then there are Defenders built with purpose.

This 1998 Land Rover Defender 110 has been restored from the ground up with a focus on authenticity, craftsmanship, and timeless luxury. Finished in the iconic Buckingham Blue, the paint takes on a personality of its own—appearing almost black in low light before revealing a rich, deep blue as the sunlight catches its curves.

The exterior is complemented by warm saddle leather seating, galvanized cappings, polished aluminum details, and classic white steel wheels. Every element was carefully selected to create a Defender that feels both true to its heritage and refined enough to stand alongside today's finest luxury vehicles.

From the precision panel fitment to the smallest hardware detail, this restoration reflects hundreds of hours of craftsmanship. It wasn't built to follow trends—it was built to endure.

This is more than a restoration. It's a vehicle designed to be admired, driven, and passed on for generations.

Most people will never notice this detail. That's exactly the point.

What you're looking at is a polished aluminum vent housing, machine-pressed into a brand new Buckingham Blue wing. Chrome mesh pulled tight across the opening. And behind it — just visible through the grid — an Allisport VGT turbo, rebuilt and fitted as part of a complete 300Tdi rebuild.

Nobody asked us to make it look this good. The turbo performs just fine without the polished surround. The intercooler breathes the same whether the vent housing is detailed or not. But somewhere in this build we made a decision — and we make it on every build — that if a detail exists on this truck, it gets the same level of attention as everything else. Not because a buyer will notice it on day one. Because we know it's there. And because the kind of person who deserves to own this truck will eventually notice it too, on some quiet afternoon when they're looking the truck over and they stop and think: whoever built this cared.

That's the standard at Higher Ground Rovers.

This is the 1998 Defender 110 Beachrunner. Buckingham Blue. New Marsland galvanized chassis. Rebuilt 300Tdi with Allisport VGT turbo and new Bosch injector pump. Ashcroft automatic. Exmoor throughout. Complete brake system replacement. Built in Western North Carolina.

Look at what's in this photograph.

Behind: A French Renaissance château commissioned in 1889. The largest privately owned home in the United States. Two hundred and fifty rooms. Copper spires. Indiana limestone. The Gilded Age vision of George Washington Vanderbilt, designed by architect Richard Morris Hunt, with grounds laid out by Frederick Law Olmsted — the man who created Central Park. Built to announce, in stone and slate, that craft and detail matter above all else.

In front: A 1998 Land Rover Defender 110. Buckingham Blue Metallic. New Marsland galvanized chassis. Series-style grille. Wolf wheels. Surrey top by All Wheel Trim. Rebuilt 300Tdi with Allisport VGT turbo. Ashcroft automatic transmission. Built from the ground up in Western North Carolina with the same conviction: that craft and detail matter above all else.
These two things were made in different centuries and by different hands, but they belong in the same frame. Both were conceived without compromise. Both were built in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Both were built to outlast the decade they were made in.

One is a National Historic Landmark. The other is available now.

Full build documentation available. Inquiries via message or link in bio.

There’s nothing else like this on the road - and there never will be

Some trucks are built. Others are crafted. This Defender 110 lands in the second category. Starting with the foundation of a galvanized Marsland chassis, every detail was considered. Fresh body panels, new doors, a rebuilt 300Tdi breathing through an upgraded VGT turbo, a brand-new injector pump and a complete brake system overhaul from line to calipers.

With an automatic transmission, the freedom of a Defender 110 is offered to anyone who’s handed the keys.

Tan Surrey top. Deep navy finish. White Wolf wheels. Open air.

True luxury isn’t just how something looks. It’s how effortlessly it rides.

This isn’t simply a restoration. This is a total reinvention.
