Had a lot going on recently. Catching up on the forever projects. Two engines and an engine break in stand built, running, and installed. Happy to have the ability to test engines before going through all of the installation work.. I’m toying with the idea of renting it out, or charging a small fee if somebody wants to run that sketchy deal they just got off of marketplace..

I know that automotive electrical systems can be daunting to many people, and I’m here to help. Today’s PSA is that even though your speakers have a (+) and a (-) on them, using the (+) wire does not actually provide a power source for your fuel pump.

So I recently realized that I started this account, but only managed to put one post up last year about a Subaru. That’s partially because this account and my Facebook account for Preservation Auto won’t play nice, even though they say they’re connected. It’s also partially because I got super busy last year with a new garage, new customers, and a particular Chrysler most of you are now familiar with. So, here’s a new post. It’s a picture of a J2 carburetor setup on a ‘57 Oldsmobile that’s almost ready to go home. Enjoy the view!

This is the nicest vintage Subaru I’ve seen in a long time. These lived a hard life, and weren’t saved from the elements. This is an ‘83, which is cool because it has an actual transfer case that switches between FWD, and two ranges of 4WD

Clarkson once said that the only way to get into gearhead heaven was by owning an Alfa Romeo. I’ve never owned one, but I used to work on them for flat rate in the early 2000’s. I’d like to think that qualifies for sainthood. Many of them were still daily driven, parked on the street, a little (or a lot) crusty, not maintained very well, and weren’t worth much.

Thankfully this one is in really nice shape, has low miles, and is garage kept. I hadn’t worked on one in 13 years, and there aren’t many in the area. If you have any Italian cars in the WNC area, or know somebody who has one, and needs an experienced mechanic regardless of the car’s condition, I’m more than happy to help.
