THE EXORCIST (1973)

Okay no secret here. I cant tell you enough how scary this one is. I still cannot believe some of the things that were pulled off in this flick. William Peter Blatty had some kahunas to say the least. This motion picture was very controversial in the fact that a very young 12 year old Linda Blair used some horrific language and actions with a crucifix that stunned, shocked, and upset a lot of people. Also the use of subliminal imagery was used as a vice to further enhance the horror. The motion picture was nominated for 14 Academy Awards, (winning two, one for Writing Adapted Screenplay and for Best Sound Editing) The reception was mainly positive on the exception of some religious sects that claimed the movie glorified Satan. Either way you look at it, the spider walk scene and the head spinning...pea soup scenes will rock your world...DO NOT LET THE KIDDIES WATCH THIS ONE! I still have vivid memories of how this movie scared the hell out of me and on ten of the top ten best horror films list...This one takes #1 every time! So grab your snacks and crucifix...as I cant truly say were not sinning watching this movie and cuddle up to your loved one and enjoy what the world and the dead see as the scariest horror movie ever made! Happy Halloween!

THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1974)

The late great Tobe Hooper had no idea just what he had going for him when he made this now major cult status gem. Filmed entirely on his budget, he created one of the most realistic, traumatizing movies ever made! With absolutely No Gore...just pure unadulterated horrific violence that let your mind do the rest! The movie spawned off numerous sequels and reboots that are to no avail...on the exception of the latest one that got pretty good at points. This one will stick with you, from the hitchhiker to Big Mama this one grabs hold. Never again did Hooper catch the magic he made with this one...an honorable mention for Hooper was a film I personally had a part in as a child called "The Funhouse" Either way nothing come close to this! Grab your loved one and cuddle hard! This will rock your Halloween. Rest in Piece Tobe Hooper!

HALLOWEEN (1978)

Okay it's no secret were all John Carpenter fans here, and this is considered one of the scariest movies of all time and deservedly so! This motion picture just like "Night of the Living Dead" and "Psycho" did for their respective genres changed the game. Never before were audiences privileged with such a monster. The Boogeyman haunts everyone's dreams, but Michael Myers just seriously messed up an entire generation! This dated flick still holds onto you as it did for the unsuspecting audiences of the seventies. From the horrific score done by Carpenter himself to the terrifying ending when Jamie Lee Curtis (The Scream Queen) said one of the best lines in horror..."What's the Boogeyman?" and the hero Loomis answers simply..."...as a matter of fact...that was!"
We promise...this would be number one in my personal fave but there are two scarier movies out there. So grab onto your loved one and cuddle tight...pair this with "Halloween I"I ( the 1981 sequel not that Rob Zombie crap) and enjoy one spectacular Halloween experience!

LIGHTS OUT (2016)

This lil sleeper of a spook flick is as it says...Lights Out, the story revolves around some pretty dark (No pun intended) secrets within a family that will have you uh...keeping the lights on! Many awesome jump scares as well as a surprise ending and a rather good spooky tale to keep your loved one flinching! Try watching this one with just a lit Jack O Lantern and I promise...Your gonna want to turn the lights on for this one! In this flick things really do go bump in the night!

STEPHEN KINGS; IT (2017)

Yes...we all loved the television mini-series of the same name back in the day, but this modern and updated version is in all intense purposes...scary as hell! They pulled out all the stops on this one...poor Georgie! However this is only half the story. Yes the Stephen King novel of the same name had much more to offer including somethings that were extremely hard to read...i.e.; Taking one for the team and some man love, the story did in fact stay true to King's novel just the same! The die hard's will love all the hidden gems in twined throughout the movie. (A little side note...Stephen Kings; The Dark Tower also out in 2017 had a little twist hidden in it that connected the movies...comment below if you know what that twist was.) Take it from us dead heads here...this is a good one to cuddle up with to your loved one. Make sure you have a lid on your popcorn...cause Pennywise here is pretty scary...the popcorn will fly...I mean float...yes...they all float here Georgie!

THE BURNING (1981)

This motion picture, the first to be released under the MIRAMAX regime, and was actually made prior to the fame of the "Friday the 13th" series, features many up and comers including Jason Alexander and Holly Hunt to name a couple and also features a young make up wizard named Tom Savini whom turned down the Friday the 13th series for this movie and the make up and special effects prove just that. The story follows a care taker named Cropsey whom is pranked one summer evening and as a result is burnt beyond any human recognition yet lives. Many years of harrowing recovery treatments later he decides to take his revenge. Cue the summer camp just down the lake and you have your scenario, yet this one actually makes you care about the cast and victims. This little gem was actually BANNED at one time for an over the top raft massacre that still stands the test of time in todays standards. That and a pair of hedge shears makes for some serious jump scares, excellent acting, and gore to fill the most sadist of hearts. Watch this one with the lights off, we promise, you will never look at Jason the same way again!
