One of best things about having a good mechanic who knows your name and you theirs, is the peace of mind it brings. Yesterday, while Jason had the day off so he could attend the kid’s field day, I had to take our oldest to an appointment. During the drive my dash lit up. I was able to call him and he was able to assure me that in this case, my car was fine to proceed to the appointment. While I can’t guarantee he will always be available during a vacation day nor can I guarantee that he can assure you what is wrong with your car when he’s not actually diagnosing it in person, I can assure you he will give you his honest educated opinion until you can schedule an appointment to bring it into the shop. Thankfully my mechanic is my husband and I trust him to keep our kids and myself safe. I also trust him to treat your car like it was our cars. I am so proud of this fact. While I wait for parts to fix my car, please give us a call for any vehicle concerns, big or small. We are a husband and wife team (and Hackberry parents for the last 8 years) located in Arvada that opened our doors last year.
After years of working for others, we knew would could provide better car repair and service than what is currently out there. We would love to be your trusted neighborhood mechanic. While our specialty is German cars, with over 30 years experience as a master mechanic we can work on almost all your car repair and maintenance needs, regardless of make or model. First up on our list of why J&M Motors is your best choice to take care of your car are oil changes. The oil change is an often overlooked and under appreciated part of vehicle ownership. Different manufacturers recommend very different intervals but for the Front Range’s rough life we recommend 6 months or 5k miles. With so many cars now having forced induction (turbos) and multi cam variable valve timing having clean, healthy oil is more important than ever before.

Now, yes, you could get your oil changed done at a quick l**e, and that’s ok. But what they won’t do is get your car in the air. Having your car on the lift allows us to get a look at everything. Not only the usual things like brakes and filters but things the quick l**e won’t catch like suspension, steering components and even fluid leaks.

All of that is preventative maintenance. Catching a problem before it’s a real problem. Things that quick l**e places aren’t able to see and don’t have the time to look at. It’s always less expensive and far, far more convenient and safer to address an issue before that issue leaves you stranded or forced into a repair.

Let’s talk about brakes. Next to tires these are the most important safety items on your car. With Colorado’s unpredictable weather and mountain grades having quality and well looked after brakes is incredibly important.

Listen for any squealing. That can mean your depth indicator is contacting the pads. It can also mean there’s a lot of grime build up on the rotors which can increase stopping distance. Grinding typically means pad material is almost gone and the metal backing plate has contacted the rotor. A pulsation from your steering wheel or seat can be warped rotors.

Every time your car comes into J&M Motors we take a good look at not only brake pad depth but the condition of the entire brake system. Often brake issues don’t show up to a driver until there’s a serious problem.
