Congrats to our graduates of 2025 Arvada Auto X and thanks to our vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and instructors! A big thanks to SACFD for allowing us to host Auto X at their outdoor training facility.
Nearly 100 firefighters from throughout the state of Colorado attended 2025 Arvada Auto X this week, improving their skills and knowledge in auto extrication. A three-day workshop, Auto X is Colorado’s premier vehicle stabilization and extrication course and is the largest of its kind in the state.
Throughout their careers, firefighters are likely to respond to crashes where victims are trapped inside vehicles due to crumpled metal, jammed doors, or rollovers. Many extrications are time-sensitive as firefighters must access, treat and remove a patient as safely and efficiently as possible. Skilled extrication can mean the difference between life and death, which is why this workshop is so important.
Firefighters spend several hours in the classroom on the first day, while the rest of the event is dedicated to hands-on training. Attendees work through eight PIT (practical integrated training) stations which each represent a different scenario, from simple stabilization to complex lowering or lifting operations involving buses or semis. Teamwork, communication and problem solving are critical as participants apply skills in a realistic, high pressure training environment.
This year, Arvada Auto X wouldn’t be possible without the support of South Adams County Fire Department. With our training center being remodeled, we were able to host Auto X at SACFD’s outdoor training facility this year. Thank you SACFD for enabling this important training!
Attendees also benefit from several vendors, who bring their latest tools and gets for firefighters to get hands-on experience with. Sponsors and volunteers with Arvada CERT also support the event. The instructors are some of the most skilled and experienced in the country, and they return each year to pass down knowledge to their peers.
