Really liking Fusion 360 over the cloud based solidworks I was using. I bought a 3D printer and decided to play around more with 3D shapes to learn. Designed a new plenum for the recently acquired supercharger for project clean Slate. Unfortunately it is too large to print with this printer. While I was at it I decided to make a new shift lever to give this old Muncie a shorter throw. Took me two tries but we got it. I should have bought one of these things years ago. I have been running it nonstop.

Yesterday we took a much needed day off from all of our projects, and spent the day at Motorsport Park Hastings. I will admit I am a better car builder than driver but we had a fun day at the track non-the-less (we even made a few friends). Can’t wait until next season when we will be using this racetrack for testing and tuning our projects.

Just got a 3d printer so I figured why not print a bracket for my CJAA fuel pedal. This will be remote mounted behind the dash (sandwiched on the firewall most likely) in project Clean Slate. That way I can run a good tilton 3 pedal in the actual foot box.

I made this by taking lots of measurements with calipers and a tape measure. I also used some pieces of cardboard for transferring some of the measurements. A 3D scanner would have made it much easier but you work with what you have I guess.

Here’s my vision for “Project Clean Slate” in her final form. What do you think? Racing livery or plain?

The only thing I like AI for (mainly because I can’t draw to save my life and photoshop takes way too long) is to visualize different designs for the cars I’m building. Here is a few ideas for one of our newest projects. Still not 100% on what will power the car (it will for sure be mid-engine though) so there are normal track width versions as well as a final super wide version (and the a picture of the car in its current condition). It will be awhile down the road, but after seeing these images I can’t wait to make this car a reality. Which one is your favorite?

We’ve been working on Project Clean Slate slowly behind the scenes -so to speak- But I would like to say that the engine/trans is finally mounted. We built a crossmember that uses the factory Muncie trans mount bushing and made it 3 pieces so the middle section can unbolt (stay on the transmission) and the entire engine/trans combo can be dropped out of the bottom for repairs/service if need be. Next up seat mounting and we need to make some strong like bars to hold the engine in place for torsion loads (since we used a front bushing style motor mount). Started our newest project the other day. Disassembled everything except the interior (going to need a hazmat suit for that job 🤣) we have big plans for this car now that we’ve seen what we are working with. It will be awhile but stay tuned to find out!

Welp, we have had ‘Beauty’ out a few times now. She has been running like a Top. Still burning a bit of oil, and we have some odds and ends to do here and there, but over all she has been a complete success. Now we just need to get her evil twin going 😈

Still got a bit to do yet, but the old trailer queen might actually go for a real drive soon. Also, as previously hinted at, we added another project to the roster. It’s going to be a mid engine diesel “grand tourer” restomod Corvair (Think of it as the “Poor Man’s Porsche” *Cayman edition*) Stay tuned!
