I'm very sad to report that Mars Drivng Academy will be closing for good. Unfortunately, we just didn't have enough students to keep the doors open. I am extremely grateful to all of those parents and students who put their trust in me, and I'm glad I was able to play a small role in such an important milestone for a teen.

In the year that Mars Drivng Academy was open, I was able to help more than 42 students obtain their learner's permits or driver's licenses. 23 of those students took our M.A.R.S. Pledge and I have complete faith that they will be much safer on the road than other drivers. They are not safer because they took the pledge, but they took the pledge because they are safer.

Even though this chapter is closing, I will always be cheering for you from the sidelines. It has been a privilege to be your teacher and a part of this community. Thank you all, sincerely. Safe driving, and may every road you travel lead you to wonderful places.

Last night, the Bulldog community experienced a tragedy. The details are still coming out, but we are sadly reminded that the number one killer of teens is still car crashes. Death is always painful and tragic, but the death of a young person, with their whole life still ahead of them, is especially vicious. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the entire Bulldog community. This morning I prayed with some students at Park Junior High who were personally affected by last night’s tragedy, asking God for comfort and peace in this difficult time. Let’s all remember that God never wishes us to go through these situations. He only wants us to be happy and to live in peace. He is there for us when we need him most to comfort us and show us love and bring us peace (Acts 24:15; James 1:13). Please, let’s all be respectful to the family in their time of loss. Let’s all be mindful of each other and take care of each other, providing support to those who need it, when they need it most. And let's all resolve to keep ourselves and each other safe on the road.
