I have received multiple mixed messages about our post related to the hillclimb event. Tons of local folks love seeing our content and use our page to view the event when they are unable to make it out in person. However I understand some of the racers are upset that pictures of wrecked cars are on our page. WE ARE IN THE TOWING BUISNESS, WRECKED CARS IS WHAT WE DO!!!
I have decided to remove the post VOLINTARILY. Yes I was in the meeting when it was said, no pictures. "WE don't want someone's family finding out about a crash on social media" We waited 5 hours after day 1 to post anything. Family should have been notified. We have used this event in the past for social media exposure with no complaints, NUMEROUS racers even commenting in the past thanking us.
I was told the first time we covered this event that this wouldn't be an issue and until now it hasn't. We cover the event because we are racers and we love helping racers, we do it for barley enough money to cover expenses just so we can help. Not one single person or racer complained EVER about our hustle or willingness to go above and beyond, now that pictures are out everyone is upset. Some even upset enough to contact local police to try to MAKE me remove the post, some upset that our pictures are up, but they themselves have pictures and videos posted. We set out to help the event and promote it, but if our pictures are such negative exposure they will stay removed. However, I paraded several of these wrecked cars through hundreds of spectators all with cameras and video rolling, I'm not sure how to get all those removed, but I imagine a group of crybabies this big will make enough stink to get that done.
In the future this event can find another towing company to handle the wrecked race car issues. I'm sure there will be companies lined up to all but donate there services.
